Nick is an exceptional attorney. Nick ought to be a judge, because families would benefit with him on the bench.
Nick is a straight shooter, he’s aggressive in court, and he will prep you for testifying. I’ve hired attorneys with higher retainers and hourly rates that never prepared me to testify and were not nearly as knowledgably as Nick. It was clear that my case was stronger with Nick on my team. If you have to go to trial, Nick will block bs from the opposing counsel. Nick never wasted my time. Each time we waited for our case to be called, he was prepping me or giving me legal advice. My previous attorney worked on other cases on his laptop during my deposition and charged me for it.
Now I hired Nick to keep me out of a jail when an ex set me up in a scheme to flip custody. I also had unique needs that were running in parallel, and Nick tailored our meetings to also materially assist me in my long-term objectives.
Nick is smart, efficient, perceptive, knowledgeable in different areas of the law, and has good instincts on how judges tend to rule. I think that because Nick is extremely perceptive, he knew how and when to give me the information that I needed. By Nick not holding my hand, he kept my legal fees low. It is clear that Nick cares about families, because he never tried to empty my bank accounts. Although Nick and I didn't have many meetings, he never missed a beat in court, our meetings were only about what was relevant to succeed in the case, and he saved me money by not scheduling unnecessary meetings. Nick is a natural when it comes to litigating. In fact, without trying, he secured extra relief for me outside the scope of our contract.
Nick is genuinely compassionate and chalk full of integrity. Nick knew my goals and knew our legal system. Nick never forced me to settle, took extra steps to make sure I didn’t compromise, and advocated for the best outcome.
So, thanks Nick for being remarkable in my perfect storm and going beyond your legal obligations. I really hope you make judge one day, because our communities need a neutral no bs judge that will protect our children. If you are lucky to retain Nick, then you'll be ahead of the curve.

I had to hire an attorney due to the change of laws of being able to get on an airplane to fly. When October 2020 you will not be able to get on a plane without a passport or driver license TSA approved with a star not knowing that my divorce paper were not correct. I consulted holly about my sister's divorce case. After listening intently, she offered to review her case free of charge and give sound advice. I couldn't see the light to the other side when struggling with how to continue as I had been in long and drawn-out divorce and custody situation. I no longer had the initial lawyer on my case. Without a doubt Joseph was by FAR, the most reasonable and the most trustworthy lawyer I spoke with in El Paso. I ran around for WEEKS searching for a lawyer who cared about myself and my case not the money and that was what Joseph did. I’m in the military and had an AFV Case. Joseph was able to get that case dismissed. Not only did he work with me financially but also personally. I would meet with Joseph and a big part of managing clients is managing their expectations and I couldn’t have had anyone handle it in a more professional and caring way. I had the pleasure of being represented by Walter Schouten. Ironically, he was referred to me by an attorney that I consulted with. I was told to call Walter because he is very knowledgeable and he's an outstanding trial lawyer. Walter took on my case and he was assisted by an amazing paralegal in Vanessa Enciso. This dynamic duo believed that they could help my situation in securing me a new trial for a custody case. They went to work immediately. This was 2 weeks after I lost at trial while being represented by a different firm.
Long story long...Walter was able to get me a new trial, and he was able to get the judge to change her previous ruling. I am now the custodial parent of my 7 year old son.
I have to admit that even if I wasn't awarded custodial rights, I was more than satisfied with the representation and would have been able to live with the ruling a lot easier. Knowing that I was being properly represented was huge for me. Especially since the previous firm I hired for this case was absolutely terrible.

The mother of my son and I have been in court a year to date fighting over the custody of our 14 year old son. Once I got engaged and moved in with my fiance (now wife) she told me I couldn't see him again. Prior to my engagement I always had our son and his little brother (her child from a previous relationship) to help her out. I went from always seeing my son (prior to engagement), to never seeing my son, to eight hours a week on the weekend, to 50/50 in the summer time, to extended standard and now full custody.
