I met with Yalda because I needed help with a custody case. I had become frustrated with other lawyers I consulted with, most of them barely gave me the time of day. Yalda spent over an hour with me on a free consultation and me feel as my case was all that mattered to her. As an attorney, she was sharp in court and was always prepared for whatever the my ex's attorney would argue. Yalda was also great at keeping me informed on the case. This was the second time I had been to trial for custody. Both times were stressful, but Yalda made this time much less stressful by being available to answer my questions, and talk to me about my concerns. I strongly recommend her.

Linda Akwa represented me in my Daughters custody case.
My case was a complicated case. My Daughter's grandmother opened the suit claiming she had taken care of my Daughter for over 6 months and was trying to take her away from her Mother while the whole time my daughter was living with me. After a few appearances representing myself in court I saw the complexity of this case and decided I would need legal representation. I talked to several attorneys and none stood out, assistants could not answer most questions, lawyers were taking too long to call back, some said they would not take on my case, etc. I talked to Linda's assistant and she was able to answer all my questions and her office was always responsive. Paula Bennett gave me something that I had thought was lost...hope.

to the mess that my case had become: my daughter's life back, free from
a downward spiral of rulings that never should have been put in place.
Ms. Bennett and the firm of Orsinger, Nelson, Downing and Anderson picked up
my case at a time that i was certain that all I could hope for was a "not as bad as the worst",
but was still a horrible disruption to my daughter's life, as well as my entire family's;
essentially hopeless due to a series of events that i would have never imagined
to be possible for me as a single parent that had raised my daughter for her
entire life of 9 years without incident.
I found myself to be in a position of being about to lose half of my time with my daughter,
half of our holidays, and almost all of the peace in our lives. I even made the
mistake of signing an agreement to try to "minimize the damage", out of desperation

Ms. Bennett took on my case even though she was extremely busy, because she did
something a lot of attorneys don't seem to do: she cared. She told me that she

how to approach my case, even though several rulings were on the books, and
the agreement had been signed through a mediator.
Not only did Ms. Bennett know what to do, but her confidence and skill shone

finality that I thought i would never see, and for which I can never be
grateful enough.

I have tried to work with other attorneys for the last several years with, no success. Paula, is an excellent attorney, and would use her again. She kept my case simple, and kept on track. My divorce case was fairly simple. It was just about the money. Bill returned calls quickly, during breaks at court, or mediation. Email turnaround was quick also, depending on the complexity of the information and documents to be reviewed and modified thus removing the necessity to meet in person to go over documents time and time again. This was a bonus for me!
I enjoyed working with Bill so much, I've hired him again for my probate case!

We dealt with Bill on a fairly simple, yet unfrequent issue: seller refused to release 15k in earnest money after cancellation of contract. The issue? Paperwork reached seller at 5:06pm instead of the 5:00pm deadline.
I sent Bill copies of all docs, set up chronologically by me. He interpolated with advice and found all possible contract loopholes. Then recommended that I, the buyer, write the seller pointing out the faults of the contract, and that they would likely end up having to release the funds, plus fork-out all additional costs - likely a few thousand each. Worked like a charm. As Tony Soprano would say: baddabim-baddaboom. His final bill wasn't exorbitant either. Def-rec!

Guys ... please don’t do this alone! I started out doing the friendly, no-lawyer divorce. We poked around on the internet, read the law and I was about to give the farm away.
I’m a relatively smart guy and able to figure most things out, but this ... way out of my league. I had a very simple divorce, no minor children, no real assets - only a house, nothing really to "fight" for. I surrendered all the furniture and was trying to be fair.
Bill was great, laid out the facts, applied his experience (don’t underestimate the need to find someone with experience), looked at the whole picture, and talked me off the ledge. I was giving too much.
We ended up going through mediation, Bill was calm and drama free, which seemed to irritated my ex-wife’s lawyer - bonus. Bill was rational and thoughtful with the mediator.
Bill listened when he needed too, asked only the questions he needed, and gave me some great advice. I know consider this an investment that has paid off. I was looking at years of support and contact with my ex-wife. After mediation, that was it. No support, no contact, life is good now.
I highly recommend you at least talking to Bill, see where you stand. Then decide, but you’ll do like I did and move forward with him.

I originally found Mr Burns and a desperate fight for the custody of my children. When I explained to him my problem he gave me a real standpoint and no fiction he didn't promise me anything and explain what I could be expecting very thoroughly. He was never rude never felt like I was getting on his nerves or bothered him he also was understanding about the times I had to pay him. Divorce is probably one of the most stressful things in anyone's life. Kathleen had the disadvantage of entering as my second attorney. After a failed mediation and a too quiet and too sweet attorney, I found Kathleen. My sister-in-law had testified for her in a case and was incredibly impressed. I soon concurred. Kathleen was honest, real and told me the truth - not what she thought I wanted to hear. Exactly what I wanted and needed. She found the perfect mediator for us (I do believe there is an art in picking the right mediator for a client!). Kathleen allowed me my emotions (believe me, there were a few!) but also kept me focused on the things that mattered. She's smart, great with numbers (accounting background) and a wicked sense of humor. Everything I could have asked for and more! I ended up with my kids (#1) and all the "real" money (#2). Only wish I had started with her and saved myself 8 months of grief!

I hired an attorney over the summer to handle a custody case as my kids were in a dangerous situation. In sixty days this attorney took me through two losing trials and ended up billing over $65,000. In the process she managed to upset two judges.
In the end my children were left in a more dangerous situation than had I done nothing.
I felt I had let my children down and was more than disheartened. That said, I could not give up and leave them in the situation they were in. I decided I needed to try again with a new attorney.
I was recommended to Kathleen’s firm by a friend. As you can imagine I was skeptical at first as my prior experience was so disheartening - I felt it was all about "billable hours".
When I met with Kathleen one of the first things she said was “If I ever have something on your bill you don’t agree with, tell me and I will take it off”. I was still skeptical until I received my first monthly billing.
In short, her billings were concise and understandable. More importantly, she took five minutes, and billed five minutes, to do a five minute job. Through about four months of engagement I never felt like I was being miked for time, and never felt I was treated unfairly.
We ended up in mediation - which is a lot of waiting. Even in mediation Kathleen said “I can sit here and speak with you and bill you for my time, or I can work on other cases while we wait.” Having been through other mediations over the years there is a lot of waiting time. This is the first time I had been given this option!
With that said, it doesn't matter what an attorney costs if your children are not taken care of.
My end result is that after about four months of working with Kathleen I have my children with me full time, child support is reversed (with me receiving instead of paying), and I am able to move my children out of state – almost unheard of in a custody situation. I ended up being billed about a quarter what my previous attorney had billed in just two months over the summer – AND most importantly I got results that keep my kids safe!
I have worked with many attorneys through businesses I have been involved with through the years. It had always seemed like a game of “how many hours can I bill you for”. I absolutely did not feel this way with Kathleen.
I could not recommend her more highly. She is absolutely the best attorney I have ever worked with.

If you are researching attorneys, stop reading reviews and hire Jean Brown immediately. After being divorced for over seven years I was able to obtain custody of my 14-year-old son thanks to Jean Brown. Changing custody on a child this age is almost unheard of but Jean knew what it would take and how to accomplish it. This wasn’t some slam dunk, smoking gun as you might think either. It was a very difficult case for anyone. For years I watched my children being subtlety manipulated against me by my ex-wife and endured many moments of pain and frustration unable to do anything about it. But when the time came that I had enough I hired Jean and she was amazing. I have had the chance to know many attorneys and utilize them for representation and Jean is hands down one of the best. I have to say that my experience with Jayla was great. I started off with two misdemeanors, both of them for assault. She did an awesome job the whole time and was able to get the first case dismissed altogether, the second one she managed to settle with no jail time and just a minimal amount in court fees. She was very responsive and worked extremely hard to get both cases handled. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Great service, great communication, very well prepared, and came to a resolution that was very satisfactory. Her fee was very reasonable and the value provided was above and beyond.

Ashley represented me during my divorce in 2015. He was patient in explaining the process and proved an expert in his field with his knowledge of family law. He provided incredible support in helping me take the right steps to put my family in the best position possible for our new journey. His representation had both conviction and compassion and I feel that he was able to help me get a very fair settlement in my mediation process.
Ashley represented me a second time last year when I had to go to trial against my ex-husband to modify our divorce decree to be able to relocate myself and my daughters back to Kansas City. Great - very straightforward with me about how things were going to work. He was a lil slow meeting me at the court house on some of my court dates...ok, really, really slow a few times...but i'm def not his only client, so I get that part. Hired Mr. Wheeler to handle my divorce. It was a nasty divorce and a difficult one, but he got me a better deal than I ever imagined. While in the middle of the divorce, because I was a little messed up, I got a DWI. Mr. Wheeler worked with the DA to get me basically off while sternly instructing me that he wouldn't do this again and told me to get it together. I did and am turning my life around.

Catherine was an incredibly helpful and compassionate resource during a complex (but not acrimonious) divorce. My ex and I were trying to pursue what turned out to be a somewhat complicated hybrid of a mediation and collaborative divorce. Catherine was incredibly patient and insightful as she advised me on the pro's and con's of several different options. She did not pressure me to take a scorched-earth approach and very much understood the human and emotional aspects of what I was going through. I had a very complicated divorce case. I have been fighting my ex-husband for about 9 years to get what was granted to me in my divorce decree.
He made the impossible to leave me without anything.
After so many years trying to solve the issue in a good manner and getting a good affordable lawyer which was impossible; I found Catherine.
She took me under her wing and offered me the help I had been looking for so many years.
Although the case was very complex due to the location of the assets which were overseas, and berries of the language, that still didn't intimidate Catherine and she pleasantly took the challenge.
We fought this for around one year and a half and even my ex-husband tried to persuade Catherine to leave my case, she stood with me no matter what.
We ended up going to trial after using all the tools and resources to end this issue in the most civilized manner but my ex wanted revenge at all cost.
The trial was incredible because after an exhausting 6 hours in court we got the results we wanted or even more than I was expecting. Catherine fought like a lioness for my case and destroyed completely my ex arguments. Catherine has 6 years of experience and the most incredible thing is that she bit up with no consideration a 35 year of experience lawyer and make her look like nothing. Sometimes you think getting a very experienced lawyer is going to get you to win but not in all cases and neither this one. Her professionalism and the respect of the rule of law took her to great success. She is very honest and makes very clear which ones are your options and possible outcomes.

She likes to put into practice her knowledge and abilities with assertiveness, not aggressiveness in a clear, concise, and logical manner. But when she needs to imply some of that aggressiveness which at some point it's important in the courtroom, she will go for it without hesitation achieving the desired results.
She possesses good oral communication skills that help her communicate persuasively effective with convincing arguments to judges.
She has an impressive high intelligence, strong analytical advocacy skills, an ability to communicate effectively structuring and evaluating arguments to persuade.
She holds the ability to listen and respond and timely manner.
I'm really grateful to God because first, he was present in all this and sent me an angel to fight for me and he didn't let me down for sure.
I highly and with no hesitation will recommend Catherine and I'm pretty sure she is going to achieve more success with the years to come.
