Simply the best, 6 years back I was arrested for a drug charge and convicted for the charges, as a Permanent resident I was sent to Arizona a detention center, Mr. Selph was hired by my family to represent me in the deportation proceedings, He worked tirelessly to have the order removed which he achieved after 4 months of detention. After leaving Arizona I had to also enroll in a "probation Plan. While on Probation I tested positive for unprescribed drugs during a urinalyses Mr. Selph came all the way 50 miles plus while he was on Vacation to represent me and again helped me not get a probation violation.. I highly recommend Michael Selph, while this was years ago I have remained clean and have been working full time since with 2 kids and one on the way, I owe my freedom and my life... my children to Mr. Selph

Sonia Amin is amazing she obtained a green card for my husband when other attorneys advised us it was not possible. She not only listen to our situation but found a solution. While in Sonia’s office the atmosphere was nice, friendly and informative. Not only did she help us in our immigration case she also help my brother receive compensation for an automobile accident he was involved in. While in Sonia’s office I overhead clients calling stating that they were former clients or that a client of Sonia referred them to Sonia which made me feel good that her former clients would return and recommend future clients. I truly believe that if Sonia S. Amin cannot help you with your legal problems that no one can because I found Sonia S. Amin to be caring, honest and very informative. I would highly recommend Sonia S. Amin.

If you notice when you read Mr. Lall review he is getting 5 stars and he deserves it. My wife and I have a very serious problem where we hired an Attorney that screwed up our filing with USCIS. USCIS was asking me to prove that my kids mom and I were not legally married. My wife has been in USA for 3 years now with this delay in getting her Green Card. We first went to Law office of Michael Gurfinkel. He first charged us a $300 consultation fee and then asked us for $14,000 to help us finish our process. Next we did our research on trying to find an Attorney that we felt have the intelligence, professional experience and wont charge us an arm and a leg. We found Mr. Lall. No consultation fee and only charged us $1000. Within 3 weeks we had our Green Card. I would recommend Law Office of Sumeet Lall to the world. Its like looking for a babysitter that you can trust with your only child, or looking for an auto mechanic that will not cheat you to repair your car. Good luck to all.

When I met Shant I was impressed first with his professionalism, second how caring he was, third with his knowledge. I have met a lot of lawyers in my life but to find that one lawyer that you can trust and put your situation in their hands is kind of hard. I always trust my intuition and the vibe I get from lawyers and I felt pretty positive when I was done with my meeting with Mr. Jaburian. Later on I hired Mr. Jaburian for my immigration case which was a very hard one and was very scared about the outcome. The whole time Mr. Jaburian made me feel calm and always repeated that everything will be fine and I should trust him. The day came and I was so happy, extremely excited to find out about the results and if it wasnt for Mr. Jaburan I don't know if my case would have went through. Thank you so much Shant for your great profesionalism, your knowledge, your caring heart and for being human after all. I will defienetly recommend him to a lot of people and I will for sure work with him too again. God Bless

I highly recommend Nicole to anyone who needs a lawyer. She is trustworthy, experienced and has an in-depth knowledge of immigration law that is incomparable to anyone I have ever worked with. . It was not our first experience with an immigration lawyer. My fiance and I were looking for a way to be together as we lived continents apart. We found Nicole and never looked back, she swiftly pointed us in the right direction and within a year, through her dedication and commitment got the best possible outcome for us, which is us now living in the same country. The process seemed easy and effortless and she walked with us every step of the way.

I sponsored a Mexican national under the 245(i) which started our 8 year journey through the CA and US immigration gauntlet. Ana did exactly as she promised, even driving out to San Bernardino from West LA for the interview! Her fees are very reasonable, she has payment plans, speaks fluent Spanish and she doesn't give up when the going gets tough.

I hired Jane to represent me when I received an NTA for an issue I had with my Green Card. I was notified that I had utilized a fraudulent I-94 to obtain my Green Card and was asked to appear in court to testify my case. My family and I were nervous going into this, we weren't sure what to expect, how to prepare, and what the outcome would be. Jane and her team walked us through the entire process and shared their expertise on cases like this. They assured me they would be with me through the entirety of the case and made sure I was given all the necessary information to be able to come out of the case successfully. Jane has a lot of knowledge and expertise in immigration law and proposed utilizing a lesser known waiver (247A1H) for my case. This strategy proved to be successful and the IJ approved of my waiver and granted me legal status back to the States. Fast forward a few months after the court case, and I have successfully obtained my US citizenship. After all these years of confusion and frustration with my status, Jane and her team were able to clear up my case in one swing and now I write this today as a citizen and a success story. I want to thank Jane and her team again for their patience during this turbulent time of my life and walking me through every step of the way. I'd highly recommend their services for anyone needing immigration law assistance.

If you've ever talked or had any interaction with attorney Shen, you will know how nice, patient and professional she is. I'm so gratefully that she handled my case. She's very smart and her logic is so clear, which made the case end up smoothly. Her charges are minimum compared to the high quality work she achieved. Ms. Shen is an attorney with outstanding professional skills, clear logic and high EQ, and like a friend you can communicate with and learn from. All of these points make her really stand out. Thus I highly recommend her if you are searching for an attorney you can rely on, she's the top choice! :)

I first consulted David in 2005 to obtain my green card thru my marriage. My case was complicated by a 10 year bar and needed a waiver to be approved for my green card. In 2008 I obtained my green card. I had some issues with the DMV and my application for citizenship could be a problem. Thru all of my issues and case David always made sure he was doing everything he could to insure there were no questions unanswered for USCIS. I became a U.S. Citizen on 1/11/2018. I know if it werent for David's representation I would not be a U.S. Citizen today. I recommend David Wright to anyone who wants an Attorney who knows the immigration laws and will do whats best for you, your case, and your family.

We had IRS tax issues in which our tax preparer had responded to the IRS twice but was totally ignored. After seeing great reviews with Atty Sophia Ahmad on Yelp, I tried to contact her. I got a reply on my email immediately on the same day on how to contact her. She is very thorough and straight to the point. Just one video call and she already knew we have a good case to fight. My case was reviewed by her dad’s CPA firm and they both worked together to submit a strong case to the IRS. After sending a 27 page docs to the IRS, our case has been closed. Thanks a lot and I would definitely recommend her should you have any tax issues.

Hasan helped my wife immigrate here from the Philippines and was able to get her family here faster than I thought was possible. He was very thorough and did an excellent job explaining the process. Since then he has handled a couple of other legal problems that I had and kept them out of court. I was very happy with the outcome of those as well. I had a very expensive attorney before who did nothing but cost me money. Hasan was very affordable and his pleasant demeanor made the experience much less stressful.

Carlos Anguiano helped me the whole way through my case against Pep Boys. I bought what turned out to be a faulty engine and after my "new" engine broke down 3 times on the road within the span of 6 months, I decided to take legal action. Carlos handled my communication and eventual court arrangement. Consumer protection is important when you find yourself on the other end of a giant company. Luckily Carlos was there to provide expert analysis and even better customer service. I received a refund for my faulty purchase only after I decided to take legal action through Carlos. You hope you never have to use an attorney as the whole thing can be stressful; I was lucky enough to have a good attorney on my side.

My wife and I had our estate plan done about 20 years ago. Many things had changed since then. We knew we had to have it revised and up-dated. Rozi came into our lives at the perfect moment. We couldn't procrastinate any longer. Not only do we love her as a person, but she knows her ever-changing field right up to the minute. And is as thorough as a surgeon going through all the details making sure they are right, sewing up the loose ends. She always had our family's best interest at heart. Now that it's done we realize we shouldn't have waited so long. Anything could have happened. And suggest you don't wait either. Get a consultation with Rozi. You will not only find you have a new advocate, but a new friend!

What an Immigration Lawyer Can Do for You

An immigration lawyer specializes in helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate the complex immigration process. These lawyers provide legal guidance on various immigration matters, such as obtaining visas, gaining permanent residency (green cards), applying for citizenship, and defending clients in deportation or removal proceedings. Immigration lawyers also assist with employment-based immigration, asylum applications, and resolving issues related to visas or immigration status.

Whether you're trying to immigrate to the U.S., facing deportation, or sponsoring an employee or family member for a visa, an immigration lawyer can help you understand your legal options and navigate the often complicated legal system.

When Should I Hire an Immigration Lawyer?

Hiring an immigration lawyer is beneficial in many situations where you are dealing with U.S. immigration laws, whether for personal or business reasons. Common reasons to hire an immigration lawyer include:

  • Visa applications: If you need assistance applying for a visa, whether it's a work visa (H-1B), student visa (F-1), or tourist visa (B-1/B-2), a lawyer can help ensure the application is properly completed and submitted.
  • Green card applications: If you're seeking permanent residency, an immigration lawyer can guide you through the process, whether through family sponsorship, employment, or the Diversity Visa (lottery) program.
  • Deportation or removal defense: If you’re facing deportation or removal from the U.S., a lawyer can defend your case in immigration court and seek to prevent removal.
  • Asylum applications: If you’re seeking asylum due to persecution or fear of persecution in your home country, a lawyer can help you prepare a strong case and file for asylum.
  • Family reunification: If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident looking to bring family members to the U.S., a lawyer can assist with the family sponsorship process.
  • Citizenship and naturalization: If you're ready to apply for U.S. citizenship, a lawyer can help you navigate the naturalization process and ensure you meet all the requirements.
  • Business immigration: If you're an employer seeking to hire foreign workers, a lawyer can assist with employment-based visas, labor certification, and compliance with immigration regulations.
  • Special immigration categories: Immigration lawyers also handle complex cases, such as visas for victims of human trafficking (T visa), crime victims (U visa), or those seeking Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

Hiring an immigration lawyer early in the process can help you avoid delays, errors, and possible denials due to incomplete or incorrect applications.

What Does an Immigration Lawyer Do?

An immigration lawyer provides a wide range of services to help clients with their immigration needs, whether personal or business-related. Their tasks often include:

  • Assisting with visa applications: Helping clients fill out and submit visa applications, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Filing for green cards and permanent residency: Guiding clients through the process of applying for a green card, including family-based, employment-based, or other forms of residency.
  • Defending against deportation or removal: Representing clients in immigration court who are facing deportation and working to prevent removal from the U.S.
  • Preparing asylum cases: Assisting clients in applying for asylum based on fear of persecution in their home country due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group.
  • Handling citizenship applications: Helping lawful permanent residents apply for naturalization and ensuring they meet all the legal requirements for U.S. citizenship.
  • Employment-based immigration: Assisting employers with the process of sponsoring foreign workers for temporary or permanent visas, including H-1B, L-1, and EB-1 through EB-5 visas.
  • Representation in immigration interviews: Preparing clients for immigration interviews and attending interviews at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices.
  • Appealing denied applications: If a visa, green card, or citizenship application is denied, a lawyer can file appeals or motions to reopen or reconsider the case.

How Are Immigration Lawyers Paid?

Immigration lawyers generally charge for their services based on the type of immigration case and the complexity of the legal work involved. Common payment structures include:

  • Flat fee: Many immigration lawyers charge a flat fee for specific services, such as preparing a visa application, green card petition, or citizenship application. Flat fees help clients know upfront what the legal costs will be for a particular service.
  • Hourly rate: For more complex cases, such as deportation defense or appeals, some lawyers charge by the hour. Hourly rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and the complexity of the case.
  • Retainer: For ongoing immigration matters, some clients may need to pay a retainer, which is an upfront payment billed against as the lawyer works on the case.
  • Pro bono or sliding scale: Some immigration lawyers or nonprofit organizations may offer free or low-cost services for clients with limited financial means, particularly in asylum or humanitarian cases.

It’s essential to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand the costs and payment arrangements.

How Much Does an Immigration Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring an immigration lawyer varies based on the type of legal service required, the lawyer's experience, and the complexity of the case. General cost estimates include:

  • Visa applications: For help with visa applications (e.g., H-1B, L-1, F-1), legal fees may range from $2,000 to $7,500, depending on the complexity and the type of visa.
  • Green card applications: Fees for family-based or employment-based green card applications typically range from $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the case.
  • Deportation defense: For defending clients in removal proceedings, costs can range from $5,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case and how long the case takes.
  • Asylum cases: Asylum applications may range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on whether the case is defensive (in removal proceedings) or affirmative (not in removal proceedings).
  • Citizenship applications: Legal fees for filing a naturalization application usually range from $1,500 to $5,000, depending on the complexity of the client’s immigration history.
  • Business immigration services: Fees for assisting businesses with employment-based visas (such as H-1B or EB-5 visas) often range from $3,000 to $10,000 or more.

Always ask for a clear breakdown of costs and fee arrangements before proceeding with legal services.

Top Questions to Ask an Immigration Lawyer

Before hiring an immigration lawyer, it's essential to ask questions to ensure they have the experience and expertise to handle your case effectively. Important questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with immigration cases like mine?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, whether it’s family-based immigration, employment visas, or asylum.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a flat fee, hourly rate, or retainer, and ask for a detailed estimate of the total cost.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case and the potential outcomes, including any challenges you might face.
  4. How long will the process take?
Immigration cases can take time, so ask how long it may take to process your application or resolve your legal issue.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your case directly.
  6. What documents do I need to provide?
Ask the lawyer about the documentation required to support your case, such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, or employment contracts.

How to Check the Credibility of an Immigration Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable immigration lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Check their state bar status: Confirm with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed to practice and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for specific immigration law experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in immigration law and have experience handling cases like yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their ability to handle immigration cases.
  • Check for industry affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) can indicate the lawyer’s expertise and commitment to immigration law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with an immigration lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Passport and immigration documents: Bring your passport, visa, and any documents related to your current immigration status.
  • Family documents: If you're applying for a family-based visa or green card, bring marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of family relationships.
  • Employment information: For employment-based visas, provide your employment contract, offer letter, or other documentation of your job.
  • Criminal records (if applicable): If you have any criminal history, bring copies of court records and other relevant documents.
  • Timeline of events: Provide a clear timeline of any prior immigration applications, visas, or issues with immigration authorities.
  • List of questions: Prepare any questions you have about your immigration case, the process, costs, and the likelihood of success.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer understand your case more effectively and get the best possible legal advice on how to proceed.
