We had our initial phone consult With Elizabeth and she explained the process and help us understand what to expect. This is a review on Kurta Law and specifically Jonathan Kurta. Jonathan reached out to me a few months back and was representing a group to recover funds on a stock loss. When I first discussed the issue he was very easy to talk to and I didn't feel pressured to join. After talking with him I agreed to move forward and he kept me informed as progress was made and ultimately got an excellent outcome. Mr. Florestal became my attorney in the early stages of the Covid pandemic. I was hesitant to meet in person because I am in a high-risk group. I masked up and traveled on the subway to our first meeting and Mr. Florestal was very late. It was clear that his colleague, who decided to begin the interview after waiting almost 30 minutes, did not even get the courtesy of a call or text.
I will just characterize his professionalism thereafter as far less than what I have ever encountered with any professional. What leads me to give such a low rating is that a decision document was sent by the State of NY in Feb 2023 but Mr. Florestal did not follow up until August 2023. The deadline for response was March 2023.
Upon consulting with another attorney, she was stunned and mentioned that she had never heard of such a lapse by a lawyer. Mr. Florestal's last communication was to blame the State Agency's failure to contact him, hard to believe, but Mr. Florestal admitted in an email he had not communicated with the agency for 1 year. Furthermore, he claimed that he would "assist" me with finding another attorney, which never happened.
