Was truly disappointed in regards to how he handled things with my husband’s federal white collar case. His lack of knowledge of the changes with the First Steps Act of 2018. Making me feel that my concerns were not priority, and not explaining why they should or shouldn’t be.

Ernie Preate is in my experience the best prosecutor Lackawanna county ever had. He put Joseph Aulisio in jail for life. He was very professional and made sure he took Mr. Allison off the streets for life. My family is very happy and stands by him for every thing he has done for us.

Upon consulting Mr. Preate regarding allegations made against my 11 year old son - he eased all my worries and gave our family the confidence we needed to proceed accordingly. We hired him and breathed a sigh of relief knowing we had him on our side. The case is still on going however every step of the way he has proven to be the perfect fit for our case. He has shown us that he is willing to fight for my son just as hard (if not harder) than I ever could. Extremely intelligent and a straight shooter. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of a good criminal defense attorney.

I used Attorney Kreglow in 2010. As with most divorces, there was a lot of emotion and disagreement. She knew the process and guided me through every step of the way. Everyone needs their own representative - nothing seems to be sacred. Divorce is expensive and has to follow the procedural chain of events. I wanted to be sure my best interest was cared for and that I understood the impact on me and my children every step of the way.

My ex and I initially met with another lawyer together, and we were planning to split the cost of the whole process. But before committing to anything, I sought out a consultation with Attorney Kreglow. She convinced me I'd be better off with her, since a "shared lawyer" didn't exist and my interests would not be represented. She impressed me at first and asked for a dazzling amount of finance documents that we were supposed to review together. Well, I really wish I had seen the first review on this site before I agreed to work with her. It was SPOT ON. Because the choice to go with Attorney Kreglow turned out to be a terrible, very long and costly mistake. Once all was said and done, I paid her more than 3x what it would have cost to go with the original lawyer, and everything took nearly 2 years -- all without any kind of mediation or court appearances because my ex and I had worked out a signed property settlement within the first 3 months of working with her. After that point, months would go by before she would take any action on anything. And even then, I'm fairly certain it was her assistant doing all the work. Actually, I'd never hire Attorney Kreglow again, but I'd have no qualms about working with her very professional assistant. I truly believe I could have done a better job representing myself and I would have saved thousands of dollars. Especially since all of the form documents that she charges hundreds of dollars in time and materials for can probably be found on your county website.

Attorney Barilla was the best attorney I have ever hired. He took the time to listen to my concerns and communicated with me very well. Stay far away from Norman Barilla as he will take your money and that is all. This attorney will tell you what you need to hear to gain your business and have his wife or secretary communicate on his behalf. This attorney took over 5k dollars from me and applied it nowhere. When I pressured Norman for answers he dropped me. Stand up guy.

Had a misfortune of hiring Mr. Lukomski for auto accident case. Had a judgement awarded, however, 7 years and counting later, still no sight of money. He failed to go after my former insurance company for Underinsured/Uninsured and has not sent out any update in over a year. Calling him is pointless - never returns any calls, secretary is useless, case is pretty much in a black hole. Abandoned case without even a courtesy of saying that much. I'm now looking into what actions I can take to collect on my judgement and correct this malpractice. I would recommend this attorney only to party I'd want to sue (and lose).

She was a very kind and knowledgeable attorney at the beginning of my divorce. As it progressed and we were in negotiations she never returned a phone call or email. She charged me an hour of consultation when I was only there for 30 minutes. She told me she had another client. If I knew I was going to be charged for an hour I would have stayed. At the end of negotiations I could never get in touch with her. She never responded. Even when I met with her at the end I felt like she was so over my case. No I would not recommend her.

Ok, first of all I do not recommend this lawyer at all. She is impossible to get a hold of and does not keep track go her cases. After being with her for years and her telling me that my case should come out in a month or two ...10 years later (still resolving the case) I come to find out she wrote a number wrong and never checked up on it for the last 5 years. By myself, I went to the immigration office for less than a year and found out there was many documents she never turned in that I had given to her. Enough of my case, point blank I do not recommend her.

I have some stressful issues going on with my employer and a chronic illness I am dealing with. I consulted a few other attorney’s that would say contact me if you get fired or if you get denied, by then the case could potentially be really messed up as I am not experienced with handling these situations. But Linda called me advised me as to what to do, answered all my questions and for the first time I feel like I am not on my own. I am definitely hiring her she seems to really care about people and wants to help. I really appreciate her!

Linda failed to accept my case against my former employer when i had more than enough evidence and witnesses to get a case and win plus bring justice on my defamed work record and reputation with fabricated slander in my supervisors statement. She was my last chance and hope before my time had run out to find a lawyer being granted the right to sue by the EEOC. She also missed out on a chance to add an impressive victory to her resume. If she is a workplace attorney but won't engage in addressing workplace discrimination then i reluctantly have to rank her 1 star and title this "conflict of interest". She herself would not give a valid explanation for this rejection!

Maryann acted like my daughter-in-law‘s divorce attorney not for the benefit of those children. Since then we had to go to family court multiple times because the mother and her boyfriend are unfit. The children was choked and my granddaughter who was 6 dragged across the floor by her boyfriend. Maryann even talked crap behind my son and my back and it got back to us. . How can this person be an advocate for minor children? There needs to be an investigation on this advocates motives. Since we wasted so much time with her incompetence ..the children were thrown out along with the mother without enough notice to get their belongings from the boyfriend due to the mother cheating among other things. This advocate sure did get this one wrong! Now the children are where they are protected with their father. This so called attorney should be investigated.

Sadly Mr. DeLuca made my case sound like it was a slam dunk during the consult. I sat in his lobby for 15 minutes after our scheduled appt time and hadn't heard from him. I had to walk through his building to find him. Took almost 30 days to get the paperwork filed in a custody dispute. Due to issues with his office's lack of familiarity with the county we filed in. He was 10-15 minutes late for the original hearing time which caused more tension with the defendant and eventually told me that I was best served by doing a new custody agreement because it could go either way with a judge. He was supposed to represent me in a support meeting and was late to that. When he finally arrived the person handling the support meeting advised him I didn't need him and I removed him as my representation immediately. He then refused to return any of my retainer as it was non refundable. When you pay a retaininer (which wasn't cheap} you expect a certain level of service and competency. If custody issues aren't in your wheelhouse just say that. Referrals are the best way to get business. Needless to say I will not be sending any referrals. This was a horrible experience.

However, after months and months of work and finely a very poor settlement was offered by the defendant,(which I declined) Mr. Froelich became unresponsive. I was just denied ssd. I found out from the denial that the two months that the judge was supposedly looking over info that my lawyers did not include the latest xrays, cat scans, and mris which showed more damage. Supposedly the lawyer said they requested it from the doctors but the doctors office said they never received a request from the lawyers. Someone is lying. Lets start with the facts. I met this lawyer about 2 hours before the hearing. It reminded me of meeting a public defender. She spoke over me constantly. We never met before the hearing. So how could this lawyer get to know me and hear from my wife with first hand knowledge when she talked over me constantly. She told me to let the judge talk and not to talk too much. Again, that was a mistake. No one knows my conditions more than myself. In the denial, it stated that my lawyers(Pond Lehocky and Dominique) requested more time to get these records. It took them over two months to get records that I personally handed the cds to the judge but they couldnt get them read in over 2 months. The hearing went terrible as I suspected because I never felt this lawyer gave a crap about me. After the hearing, we discussed what Cape MAy County and parental alienation have done to me...my numerous suicide attempts, PTSD, depression, panic attacks, etc. I told her approx 50 fathers commit suicide a day across the country due to parental alienation and as witnessed by my wife, she never spoke another word. She ignored me as we took the elevator down together. I never heard from the lawyer in over two months while they and my doctors were screwing me. The judge denied their request for additional time, totally ignored my psychiatrist's professional opinion, and ignored most facts while denying additional and recent tests. My personal opinion is that she did NOTHING for me and she is not good at what she does. She didnt communicate with me and certainly didnt give a damn about me. I would not hire her for jaywalking. Dominique, Pond Lehocky, and the Judge all screwed me!

What a Workers’ Compensation Lawyer Can Do for You

A workers’ compensation lawyer specializes in helping employees who are injured or become ill as a result of their job to receive the benefits they are entitled to under workers' compensation laws. These lawyers represent injured workers in claims for medical benefits, wage replacement, and other compensation related to workplace injuries or illnesses. They also help when claims are denied, benefits are delayed, or disputes arise with the employer or the insurance company.

Whether you've been injured on the job, developed an occupational illness, or are dealing with a denied workers' compensation claim, a workers’ compensation lawyer can help you navigate the claims process and ensure you receive the full benefits you deserve.

When Should I Hire a Workers' Compensation Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a workers' compensation lawyer in several situations, especially when complications arise during the claims process or when your rights as an injured worker are being challenged. Some common reasons to hire a workers' compensation lawyer include:

  • Claim denial: If your workers' compensation claim has been denied, a lawyer can help you appeal the decision and represent you in hearings or litigation.
  • Inadequate benefits: If the insurance company offers you a settlement that doesn’t cover your medical expenses, lost wages, or other damages, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf for a fair amount.
  • Delay in receiving benefits: If your benefits are being delayed, a lawyer can help expedite the process to ensure you receive timely compensation.
  • Permanent disability: If your injury leads to permanent disability (partial or total), a lawyer can help you navigate the more complex process of securing long-term benefits.
  • Retaliation by employer: If your employer retaliates against you for filing a workers' compensation claim (e.g., by firing or demoting you), a lawyer can protect your rights and pursue legal action.
  • Third-party liability: If a third party (e.g., a contractor or equipment manufacturer) was responsible for your injury, a lawyer can help you pursue additional compensation through a personal injury lawsuit.
  • Pre-existing conditions: If your employer or the insurance company claims that your injury is related to a pre-existing condition, a lawyer can help you present evidence showing that the injury was work-related.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can prevent delays, avoid mistakes, and ensure you receive all the benefits you’re entitled to under workers' compensation law.

What Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Do?

A workers' compensation lawyer provides a range of legal services to injured workers, ensuring that they receive the benefits they deserve. Their tasks often include:

  • Filing claims: Helping injured workers prepare and file their workers' compensation claims to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Appealing denied claims: Representing workers whose claims have been denied and guiding them through the appeals process, including hearings and court appearances.
  • Negotiating settlements: Negotiating with insurance companies to secure fair compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Handling disputes: Resolving disputes between the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company regarding the amount of compensation or the nature of the injury.
  • Coordinating medical evidence: Gathering and presenting medical records, expert testimony, and other evidence to support the workers' compensation claim.
  • Advocating for benefits: Ensuring that injured workers receive all the benefits they’re entitled to, including temporary or permanent disability benefits, vocational rehabilitation, and medical treatment.
  • Filing third-party lawsuits: In cases where a third party is responsible for the injury, a workers' compensation lawyer may also pursue a personal injury lawsuit to recover additional damages.

How Are Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Paid?

Workers' compensation lawyers typically charge a contingency fee, meaning they only get paid if they successfully recover benefits for you. This fee is usually a percentage of the benefits awarded, and the specific percentage is often regulated by state law. Here's how it generally works:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer's fee is typically between 15% and 25% of the total benefits awarded to you. You don’t have to pay any upfront legal fees, and the lawyer’s fee comes out of the settlement or benefit award.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t recover any benefits for you, you generally don’t have to pay for their services.
  • State regulations on fees: Many states cap the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge, and some states require the fee to be approved by the workers' compensation board or judge.

Be sure to discuss the fee structure with your lawyer during the initial consultation to understand how much you will owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Workers' Compensation Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a workers' compensation lawyer typically depends on the contingency fee arrangement, meaning the lawyer’s fee will be a percentage of the benefits you receive. General cost estimates include:

  • Contingency fees: Most workers' compensation lawyers charge between 15% and 25% of the total settlement or benefits awarded. For example, if you receive $50,000 in benefits, the lawyer’s fee would range from $7,500 to $12,500.
  • State regulations: Some states limit the percentage that workers' compensation lawyers can charge. In these cases, the fee is usually capped, often at 20% to 25%, depending on state law.
  • Additional costs: Some lawyers may charge for out-of-pocket expenses, such as filing fees, medical records retrieval, and expert witness testimony, though these costs are typically deducted from the settlement after the case is won.

You should always ask for a clear explanation of fees and potential additional costs during your consultation so you understand the financial arrangement.

Top Questions to Ask a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Before hiring a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to ask the right questions to ensure they are the best fit for your case. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with workers' compensation cases?
Ensure the lawyer has experience handling cases similar to yours, especially if your injury is severe or the case involves disputes.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Clarify whether the lawyer charges a contingency fee and whether there are any additional costs you need to be aware of.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Ask for an honest assessment of your case, including the potential challenges and outcomes.
  4. Have you handled cases like mine before?
Find out if the lawyer has experience dealing with cases involving similar injuries or disputes, such as denied claims or permanent disability.
  5. How long will the process take?
While it’s difficult to predict an exact timeline, the lawyer should be able to provide a general estimate based on their experience with similar cases.
  6. Will you personally handle my case?
In larger firms, junior attorneys or paralegals may handle parts of your case. Make sure you know who will be working on your claim.

How to Check the Credibility of a Workers' Compensation Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable workers' compensation lawyer, follow these steps to verify their credentials and track record:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing, with no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for workers' compensation experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in workers' compensation law and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for client reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s expertise and service.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their experience in workers' compensation cases.
  • Check for professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG) or local bar association committees on workers' compensation can indicate the lawyer’s commitment to this area of law.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a workers' compensation lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant documents and information. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Accident report or incident documentation: Bring any documentation related to your workplace injury or illness, including accident reports or notifications to your employer.
  • Medical records: Provide copies of medical records, including treatment notes, doctor’s reports, and any information related to your injury or condition.
  • Employer correspondence: Bring any letters, emails, or forms related to your claim from your employer or the workers' compensation insurance company.
  • Wage and benefits information: Provide information on your wages, benefits, and any lost income due to the injury.
  • List of questions: Prepare questions about your case, the process, costs, and what to expect moving forward.
  • Timeline of events: Prepare a timeline of the incident, your injury, and any medical treatment or communication with your employer and the insurance company.

Being well-prepared for your consultation will allow the lawyer to assess your case more effectively and provide you with the best possible legal advice.
