I was the driver of a car involved in an accident in April 2017 while traveling in VA. When coming to a complete stop my car was hit from behind with the other driver doing approx 70 mph. Due to the fact that I had seen the car spinning out of control heading our way, I had completely locked my legs & arms forward. At the time, I thought I was not injured. Once the adrenaline wore off, I had a headache, my shoulder ached, as was my wrists & ankles. When we returned to FL I made an appt with my PCM, at which time they did X-rays. Long story shorter, once all was said & done, I had neck & lower back damage. When I was informed that I could no longer deploy, nor work security, I started to research attorneys. I also kept a journal of everything covering the time of the accident, Dr. appt, medical procedures, including names & what the medical plans were going forward, including all copay receipts & medications. Sept 2017 I had my consultation with Boohoff Law located in Brandon. Once they reviewed my files & information, they go started to request the necessary documents from auto insurance & medical info related to injuries. The para-legal would call me at least once a month to keep me in the loop & document any new medical findings or treatments I’d received. I was asked if I would like to meet the attorney, but I didn’t feel that was necessary since I was being well informed as to what was happening with my case. It does take time. You must keep records & be patient. It can be a long process. Boohoff law was able to negotiate with all insurance companies involved & I received the max settlement possible. Then they had to deal with Government health insurance, and because of my injuries, the lien on the settlement was quite high. While waiting for my health insurance, Boohoff provided me with the majority of my settlement (Partial Disbursement), minus their fee’s & possible lien amount. It took approx 6 week to settle the lien amount with the Government insurance, but they did lower the amount originally asked in the lien by several thousands of dollars. Needless to say, I would highly recommend Boohoff Law. Sherie Jirinec, Michelle Pieller were the two para-legals I worked with 95% of the time. Attorney Linsey Pyles, was in frequent contact when they were preparing the final packages, at which time they would ask for additional information when required.
