I phoned Brian about potentially filing bankruptcy in Florida, where I maintain a winter residence. He was honest with me and explained that because I owned property in New Jersey that I would be better off filing there and not in Florida (where he practiced ). This meant that he could not take my case, and thus would not make any money from my case, but that did not stop him from being upfront and honest with me. I only wish all lawyers were so honest! My career became interrupted when I was diagnosed with a severe version of non-Hodgkins lymphoma. My wife was on Social Security disability and my insurance was inadequate. Attorney Cohen helped save our house. He took the time to explain all our options, and we decided that working with the Bankruptcy court's mediation program for modification was our best choice. He was really knowledgable and the mediator got our loan approved in HALF the time than other people I know who were trying to get thei loans modified directly with the banks. We could not have made it through this without his help!
