In contrast to the last review, I live in the UK and a few years ago I had a big problem with a "Sumerset" houseboat that I had purchased. I had to sue the company for compensation, Tom took on my case on a no win no fee basis. It took a couple of years but Tom secured compensation of $1,300,000 for me. He was always up-front with me and worked diligently to recover my money keeping me fully informed at every stage. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

My experience with this attorney is that he took all of the money that he could from me! He promised me many things with my case and he did not deliver. I paid him over $21,000 in total for at least 3 years,and my settlement ended up only being $15,000. He also tried to also take some of that! For the most part, when you get into a debate and need legal representation, the only people who really win are the attorneys. Tom Smoot made sure that he knew my financial situation from the beginning of this case so that he could drag the case out for as long as he could so that he could continue being paid, promise me the world in the beginning to keep me motivated by paying him, and suck me dry like a vacuum. I lost my condo and a lot of my money, as well as my well being and sanity dealing with him! I would not recommend this attorney to anyone. If you don't want to end up broke, look the other way! My honest opinion is that I believe Tom Smoot and the defendant were in bed together, (not literally) which is why things did not work out for me. I have a slight distrust in attorneys now because of my experience with him.
