I was faced with some very difficult family matters and hired Debbie Potter to represent me. I can honestly say that I am absolutely satisfied with her. She went over and beyond to help win my case ,in which we did! I would recommend her to anyone that is facing matters with DCF. Her knowledge and skills are astounding! I appreciate her and everything she did for my family!

Disappointed. Needed spousal social security, which meant a Modification of Final Decree. Made me think it couldn't be done unless originally setup in Final Decree. Would have been easier if she'd just said, "We don't handle that kind of Family Law," than to leave me with no hope. Was not thinking of this at time of divorce, as I had small children and had to go to work to pay for present "No Fault" divorce laws, which means no grounds are needed. There were other financial issues at that time. More importantly, you forget that things could change upon age of retirement where you may need it. The law states you have to have been married at least 10 yrs to be eligible for it. We were together 13 yrs. By law, I was entitled to it. My SSI alone is not enough to live on in senior yrs. At that time, most all the financial burdens, including the divorce, were mine. With no family support system, it took 1.5 yrs to get and I never remarried. Strangely, It would not take anything from what he currently gets. It only offers more if he predeceases me.

I had one of those divorces that lasted 2 years. Debbie Potter worked with me from start to finish step bye step and we made the best out of bad situation. She was always just a phone call away and never kept me hanging. She worked very hard on my case and kept me informed. I couldn’t ask for more out of a lawyer. Also Nicole in billing was a pleasure to work will in the billing department. She never just charged my card with out informing me and explaining what I was being charged for, and make sure it was ok to charge the card at that time. All around very professional group.

The firm is concerned more about money and profit than the client. They asked for all my financials (bank statements, tax returns, credit card statements, etc) when FACTS are the court DOES NOT need any of this information for the matter that they were handling. DO NOT HIRE THIS FIRM!!

Just a warning to others..over $2000 retainer 8 months later still no paperwork filed and then when we get "some" of our paperwork back because we went to a better lawyer the $2000 is "NOT REFUNDABLE". I DO NOT recommend them!

The staff at Owenby was extremely accommodating and easy to work with. There is no one I would trust more with my family. You can tell Janessa S. has been there a very long time by how great her advice was. I would recommend her to anyone I know looking for legal advice. 😀

When you are going through a difficult time and really need some good advice you should utilize this law firm. I have been working with Janessa and she is truly a godsend. A real person to help you through real times.
