Good guy, very good at his job never let any of my people down

Bordering on malpractice. I was arrested in Dec. 2023 on a DUI first offense and employed the service of a relative to help me hire a lawyer and be the go-between. The reason being as at the time I was driving a 200 mile a day commute to work and my job is not the kind of job where I can just take off to go meet with lawyers nor take extensive phone meetings. My relative and Mr. Gorman discussed the situation, of what I would have liked to achieve, but also made it clear that I wanted this to be over very quickly. Mr. Gorman was given a copy of what the state offered me when I didn’t have a lawyer and was explicitly asked if he could not get a better offer to say so, was told what I blew, etc. Instead he assured he could do much better than the initial offer and it didn’t matter what I blew, etc. so in Jan of 2024 I hired him. After weeks of silence Mr.Gorman reached out and said he needed another $300 for depositions claiming that filing depositions usually speeds up the process of the state coming to the table. This is false and depositions were never taken, but nevertheless I paid the $300 for literally nothing, and still have not received a receipt for that payment. I never once was contacted by this office except to pay them, it was months of absolute silence with my relative being given the run around by Mr.Gorman's paralegal and secretary, he would not return phone calls nor would his office send me any updates. 9 months later I got notified by the person who bailed me out of jail that there was a change of plea scheduled. I received 0 notification of this from Mr Gorman nor did I sign off on a change of plea. He never discussed a change of plea or what the state was offering. He accepted the offer and I was locked into it with the only other option to go to trial. I sent two emails inquiring what was going on and received no response. Instead, Mr. Walsh another attorney at this firm called my relative the night before my court date to go over the details and explained that an automated email was sent to her, not me, about the change of plea and to top it off it wasn’t even her email. $3800 for a lawyer who not only sends an automated email but sends it to the wrong email. So somebody out in the world has some information on me and my court date. My relative had to remind Mr. Walsh that she was not the client I was. Apparently this is how this office runs. You hire Gorman, but get Walsh in the end. I was told by Mr. Walsh that he had gotten the probation reduced to 6 months instead of 12. We found out when he sent over the plea deal that was clearly not the case. He did not get it reduced to 6 months. When I asked why the double talk he then said that DUI’s require a minimum of 12 months probation, but he was going to get it early terminated. So after 9 months Mr. Gorman's deal that he made with the state was literally what the state initially offered, verbatim, to me when I didn’t have an attorney. For those that don’t know you can petition early termination on your probation after everything is completed and you have served at least half of the sentence. While it is convenient to get the state to go ahead and agree to an automatic early termination at your plea hearing you absolutely do not need an attorney for early termination. I could have taken the states offer before hiring Mr. Gorman and had gotten the probation early terminated after serving half of the sentence by the time he scheduled a change of plea. He sat on this case for 9 months. 0 traffic citations in over two decades with no criminal record, the state ordered evaluator cleared me, completed all the DUI courses and victims panel, paid everything off on day 1.The law was still broke, but context matters, period. Furthermore this office sent me 0 itemization bills throughout the 9 months as they are required by law to do. Now attorney's like to tell you that it is discretionary on the state's end and that they don’t have to make any deals or offers and while there is truth in that it doesn’t take 9 months to arrive at that conclusion.

This is absolutely the best attorney you could use when you get into some trouble. I've used a couple big named attorneys in the past like ohle and ohle with very bad results. I would recommend these guys to anyone and everyone thank you again Mr. Gorman !!!!
