I am the one that wrote the review for Ken on October 23, 2017. My previous experiences with him were all positive, so I will not change what I wrote. I respected him as a lawyer and always showed him kindness. When he suffered the loss of his wife, I sent him a heartfelt letter to give him my condolences. I wanted to encourage him and tried my best to uplift his spirit. When he asked, I wrote a review for him and made it public to show him my appreciation for all that he had done for me. After my father died in 2022, I thought Ken would be a great resource for advice. To my surprise, he said he didn't remember me, or even believe that he ever handled my case. Even though it hurt, I maintained my composure and spoke to him about my father's complex situation when he asked. My father passed away from multi-organ failure amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic. What makes his case so complex is the inhumane treatment he received from the staff at a well-known hospital in Atlanta, GA. Sadly, Ken wasn't willing to listen to me discuss those details. His prejudice against individuals who opted not to receive vaccination led him to hang the phone up on me mid-conversation. He gave me no opportunity to respond to his opinion. I never disrespected him in the entire conversation, but this is how he treated me. Here's what I find so sad about all this: 1. He did not witness the atrocities my mom and I witnessed. 2. He did not face the discrimination and intense hatred my mom and I faced in that hospital. 3. He rejected my story entirely and was quick to judge my father’s situation before inquiring for more information. So, as of October 1, 2024, I cannot and will not recommend this lawyer to any family for anything because of his choice to not listen. I feel obligated to the people to update my review on this page when my views no longer align with what I wrote in 2017.

Ken and his assistant Christine were gracious, sweet and understanding of me and my case, be it small. It did take a little longer than I expected but once Christine came into the picture, things went smoothly and rather quickly. They made sure to answer any questions I had, and made sure I understood all the details of the case. Best of all, they kept me up to date with all the details regarding hospital bills, my insurance company, and what not. Overall I think they did an amazing job and I highly recommend them to everyone!!

Ken Shigley was referred to me by a member of my church after my daughter was killed in an automobile accident. She pulled out in front of a tractor trailer and he ran into her passenger door which killer her on impact. The truck was going a little over the speed limit but she was still at fault. Ken was still able to get a settlement for her children. Ken is a great attorney and he actually cares about his clients.

ATTORNEY KEN SHIGLEY - did his lawyer thing - and INCREASED MY "TAKE HOME AMOUNT" of settlement - the amount after paying core medical & legal fees - BY OVER 3000% (three thousand percent) MORE than what some other law firms could do. He and Courtney (his assistant) were like FAMILY! True blessings. :)

Ken was a very personable and caring attorney. Helped me out at every turn and went the extra mile. If my family had not hired him we would probably have had to settle for a lot less than what we did. I would highly recommend him to anyone involved in a complicated case like ours was.

After having to have a hole drilled in a automobile part at a machine shop 10 years ago, I told my uncle I could have done that. My uncle replied,"You are doing this once these guys do it everyday" That simply means if you don't know where to turn, get help and get an expert.Ken was that help when i was severely injured during a fatal accident. My family hired Ken after our parents were killed in a trucking accident in GA in 2013. We worked with Ken for 19 months before our case settled. During this time I thought Ken was outstanding. He was accessible to us at all times and maintained consistent communication. He was patient with us and took time to explain the finer points of law. While we avoided going to trial, he prepared diligently and I felt like he was leaving nothing to chance. I am relieved that our case is complete and I will miss working with Ken. When tragedy struck our family in the form of the wrongful death of our son and caused me physical injuries and changed our lives forever, we dragged our feet about hiring a lawyer. I didn't want to face having to go through the stress. Big mistake. The first thing you do is hire local counsel. I found Mr. Shigley by surfing the web, and we got a listening ear. He was realistic, professional and worked very hard in our behalf. Not only that, he showed a genuine concern for our family, and ran interference for us on a number of issues relative to our case. If I had it to do over again, I would have hired him sooner had I known about Avvo.

The case went to trial in Calhoun, Gordon County, GA, in March 2007. The highest verdict in the history of Gordon County was about $800,000. Ken Shigley blew away the other side's witnesses on cross examination, and did a fantastic job illustrating how my injury has affected my life. He really had the jury with him. He asked the jury for $1,327,241.54, and did it in a way that made it sound cheap. The verdict a day later was for $2,345,940.17, nearly three times the highest verdict in the history of that county. It was like the movie "The Verdict." I feel so blessed to have had Ken Shigley as my lawyer!!!
