From the very first call I made to Smith & Files Law, I knew I was in excellent hands. Kristen is thorough, knowledgeable, professional and deeply caring. She walked with me through the process of my divorce and advised me wisely. Unfortunately, my divorce had many twists and turns yet Kristen was steady and kept things moving forward. I always had the feeling she had my back and even post-divorce when I required her services again, she was an incredible source of support and went above and beyond to see that my case was handled properly. Kristen walked me through the entire legal process and gave me a timeline of events that would occur during my case. She was very detailed and did a wonderful job negotiating my needs during mediation. Coming into the process I had no rights of my child and really had no say. Now today I am more protected with the parenting plan that was put into place and I have been able to foster an amazing relationship with my child. Kristen provided excellent counsel and advocacy on my behalf in a very acrimonious custody dispute. She gave me the legally "right" answer, but also provided practical, real world advice. She was compassionate, but was also a zealous advocate and did not let the opposing counsel or party intimidate her! I appreciate that she answered my questions honestly, even if it was something I didn't want to hear.

Kristen was great to work with. She was very responsive and worked hard on my behalf from start to finish on my divorce case. Attorney Files was amazing. Her professionalism and knowledge of family law had me in awe. When my ex’s attorney decided to back out of our previous agreement she went into shark mode. Yes this mild mannered young lady can be ferocious. She ended up saving me tens of thousands of dollars and I ended up just paying my part of back taxes, which I was glad to do. Going through a child custody trial is extremely stressful and emotional. Kristen is extremely knowledgeable and organized. She represents her clients professionally, she's respectful in the court room, and is well respected by colleagues. She won our custody case, but if we would have lost I would still feel happy that we hired her. I can't recommend her enough!
