I am not the category of person that might normally acquire a large tax bill. For most of my life, taxes have been a straightforward process, but sometimes the perfect storm hits, and I was not prepared. My family and I have relocated twice, coast to coast in the last 10 years and upon the most recent move, listed numerous expenses on our taxes. The catalyst for the move was an employer lawsuit I was in the midst of fighting, but still needed to contribute to my families support, forcing me to take the available job on the other side of the country. Starting over again placed my brain in a whirlwind, I probably felt a little cheated and wanted to recapture what had been lost. My previous employer settled the lawsuit, but the amount for emotional distress did not adequately offset my deficit. My ignorance did not know it required taxation. Everything eventually caught up with me, seemingly all at once. There was no victory and I have honestly never felt so defeated. Knowing I could not tackle my tax situation on my own, I researched and called several firms and tax experts. It was not until I spoke to the Bomar Law firm, I felt anyone really listened. It was most amazing to me. I felt understanding and empathy for my story. It was a glimmer of hope. Bomar never treated me like I did not matter. They stuck with me. Anyone who knows dealing with the IRS can be an intimidating, slow and tedious process, but they remained with me through it all. Jordan Hairston took on my case and patiently communicated with me. I wrote long essays, that when you read for a living, could not have been very enjoyable to get through. But again, I felt heard. I felt like Jordan was on my side. This is unusual for current day, many times we do not invest in the stories of our clients, so to me this was a rare experience. Fast forward to now and all I can say is, I am thankful for finding this firm, Jordan and everything they have done for me. Mine was the best possible outcome, while I still must maintain compliance, I am more than happy to do so. The burden lifted off me is like a 2nd chance at life. Honestly, this is a real firm, not one of those hyped commercials promising the world on the radio. I hired Calvin Bomar to represent me two years after a horrific divorce. I had been indemnified for a certain year’s tax liability by my ex husband that amounted to over $160,000. My ex did not pay it. Calvin is so experienced and knowledgeable as well as being committed to helping you that he in a very short period of time reduced that amount, which could have caused the IRS to place a lien on my home and/or seize my assets for the amount owed by my ex husband. You are only indemnified by your ex NOT the IRS. Cal was so compassionate and quick to respond. They answer the phone!!!!! They return your calls in a timely manner. He presents himself as extremely professional with the highest ethical standards. The night before a hearing, we asked him to testify as an expert witness. He did not hesitate. His testimony was perfect. Additionally, in a matter of two weeks he managed to reduce and abate the liability from $162,000 to $11,000. Unfortunately, my ex husband also benefited by Calvin’s work. Even still, most importantly I did not have to suffer from the fear of this debt that was not mine. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I will use him in the future. He has been the most effective attorney in this entire horrible experience. He charges a flat fee. But it is worth it. You know what you are paying. No nickel and dimeing you to death for an email. And he gives you a fair reciprocal amount of effort and work. In my case, he probably lost money. But I will pay him more. I would not feel comfortable if I did not—as he truly saved me and became a true ally.
