Cons
1
Attorney Farrey is often unavailable and slow to respond to client inquiries and requests
“I rarely spoke with Mrs. Farrey as she was always busy, out of town, or working as a judge in the other county. Several times her staff told me she was in court but she later commented she was out of town(vacationing).”
2
Attorney Farrey's billing practices are a concern, with inflated time spent on cases and unexpected charges
“The time spent on my case was inflated on all of their billing. Her husband and office manager is a true "salesman" and will hype her up as caring, attentive and a shark but I didn't experience any of that.”
3
Some clients feel that Attorney Farrey does not adequately prepare for cases and does not effectively represent their interests
“Most documents were filed at the last minute and inquiries were ignored up until days before each of the multiple hearings. I'm currently working with another attorney to appeal and he agrees that this was "bare minimum" work at "high profile" rates.”

When I found myself being served with fraudulent papers relating to a Contempt Action and a Change of Primary Physical Custody, I immediately started my search for representation. I called countless lawyers, partook in endless intake consultations, and even answered several questionnaires. However, from the first time I spoke with AC at the law firm, I knew Anene Farrey & Associates was the firm for me. He reassured me that their firm was more than equipped to be able to handle my case. He let me know that Attorney Farrey was known for her thorough approach in handling cases and she came with the needed fire to win. From what I saw throughout my case and especially during my trial she lived up to her reputation. She kept precise notes and each time we spoke she remembered specific details (this is even with the court dates being pushed back repeatedly and the case spanning over two years). Attorney Farrey meticulously held on to even the smallest nuisances of my case. From the very beginning Attorney Farrey made it clear that we would win this case. That was a promise she kept. This victory came although we were up against the biased court appointed Guardian ad Litem, the Forensic Evaluator that did not properly evaluate anything, opposing counsel with their made-up stories, and even opposing witnesses throwing every lie they had. Attorney Farrey defied the odds and was victorious. Regardless of what the opposing side came up with Attorney Farrey maneuvered through it all expertly. She possessed the grace and a determination that ensured the best outcome for my daughter. She had a fire and a tenacious attitude that commanded the court room. From her rapid and well thought out line of questioning, to her ability to listen and ensure that the truth was truly revealed to the court, it was a job well done to say the very least. I appreciate all that she did more than I could ever express. I would give the highest recommendation of Attorney Farrey to anyone in the unfortunate situation of fighting for the best for their child.

I write this review with the heaviest of hearts. The child custody, legitimation and paternity battles are HARD! Anene Farrey made this battle even harder. I was constantly sending messages through the portal as directed requesting updates and advise. It took her WEEKS to respond. There was always an excuse as to why a telephone call couldn’t be scheduled. Why hire a lawyer that you can never reach even when you’re paying them OVER $500 per hour? She was my first choice because her husband sold me a dream. He said, “She’s a shark, she’ll fight HARD for you, the opponents fear her, she is a high profile “celebrity” attorney.” My co-worker and I both hired her and had the same experience. Her receptionist is pleasant but the paralegals Tiffany and Brittany are as slow as Mrs. Farrey. I’m not certain that there really are any “Associates” as they never had any involvement in either of our cases. My outcome was that I lost primary custody of my boys. My ex husband was abusive to both my boys and I but his counsel painted a heavenly picture that we poorly defended against. Most documents were filed at the last minute and inquiries were ignored up until days before each of the multiple hearings. I’m currently working with another attorney to appeal and he agrees that this was “bare minimum” work at “high profile” rates. **Most of these 5 star reviews are friends of Mrs. Farrey and fictitious profiles. Losing your children AND shelling out $30,000 to someone who did the bare minimum is heartbreaking. BEWARE.

After 2 years and over $25k spent with unfavorable results for my case, needless to say I was heartbroken. My ex husband made more money but ultimately had a better lawyer than I did. Oneyma advertises as a “Father’s Rights” attorney and I should’ve taken note of that but didn’t. My ex’s attorney killed us at every single hearing and there were plenty. We were always preparing the day before because she was constantly unavailable and busy. I would provide evidence that was never used and she’d later state that she was unaware they had it! I rarely spoke with Mrs. Farrey as she was always busy, out of town, or working as a judge in the other county. Several times her staff told me she was in court but she later commented she was out of town(vacationing). Divorces and child custody issues are mentally and emotionally draining. You want someone that learns your story, hears you out and represents you to their best abilities based on that. I didn’t receive that. Some say she is rude- I didn’t experience that. But she was BUSY.. too busy to review my evidence, prepare a GOOD defense strategy and win my case. Because my attorney wasn’t adequately prepared, I lost time with my babies and I miss them daily. You don’t have to be unfit to lose! Having a dedicated, strategic attorney that FIGHTS for you is key. I regret the decision to hire her so much. I thought paying more money meant better representation and it doesn’t. If you’re reading this Mrs. Farrey, PLEASE slow down and HELP those that trust you with their children’s future.

I showed up in court in a wheelchair back in early February of 2020. I had been going back and forth with the roofing company that put a lien on my home after they failed to uphold the commitments made in our contract. I suffered multiple strokes in those two years, and I could barely catch my breath long enough to argue my case effectively that day in court. While exiting the courtroom Attorney Gibson handed me her card and told me to give her a call. From the moment she handed me that card Attorney Gibson completely took over and handled the situation for me. I never had to lift a finger because she took care of it all. Today my matter is resolved and the lien is removed from my home. Thank you GLF!

Ms. Gibson has helped my client (a startup company) with several immigration issues in regards to securing visas for our employees. Ms. Gibson was always helpful, quick to respond, and did not mind explaining the nuances of immigration law. I will definitely use Ms. Gibson's services again.

Goes well beyond the normal duties provided by most attorneys. Provides counsel based on helping improve your business by finding a way to get the job done. Has a positiive attitude towards accomplishing the objective. Does not list all the reasons why you cannot do something. In addition to providing wise and sage counsel, he helps coach my small business. His 13 years of experience, including combat experience, as an officer in the Marine Corps provides a unique understanding of how to incorporate and integrate his advice into practice within my company, as opposed to just telling me what to do. That is, my people really look forward to hearing how he can help them and my business. For example, in order for my business to survive, the government dictated that we had to become self regulated by joining the old NASD. We did not even know what that meant. Every other attorney, and the NASD told us it was impossible for us to join. The fact that we did not trade securities, by definition, prohibited us from joining the National Association of Securities Dealers, a non governmental self regulated organization. Not only did he help us to become a member of the NASD, he held our hand through the entire process. He did everything from coaching our traders on the floor to sit beside us and fielded all questions in our interviews in Washington DC and Atlanta GA. He drafted and implemented all procedures required to accomplish the result. He even used his network to contact the chairman of the commission. We did not trade any

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Atlanta, Georgia?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
