I'm not sure where to begin, but I cannot say enough about attorney, Kayla Upchurch. She is truly a phenomenal attorney!
I entered the divorce arena weary and worn after an extremely difficult marriage. However, due to her zeal for helping others, calm demeanor, and prowess for navigating the legal system, she helped me navigate the murky waters of my divorce.
Countless times, I was overwhelmed with anxiety because my "opponent" was financially stable and street savvy, yet I was a stay-at-home mother with limited resources. Nevertheless, Ms. Upchurch explained the strengths of my case and helped me regain my dignity and peace of mind.
If you're looking for a highly competent, yet personable divorce attorney, look no further. Ms. Upchurch is the perfect balance of passion, compassion and practicality. Her level of expertise, professionalism and responsiveness is second to none. Though no one wants to go through a divorce, if you must, I highly recommend Ms. Kayla Upchurch.

After being involved in a very long divorce (4+ year process) and multiple law firms, I found Meriwether and Tharpe. Though it took some time getting opposing counsel and now ex wife off of dead zero, things finally began to move forward with my legal team, headed by Dorothy Sachs and exceptionally supported by Diane Lederman and eventually Nechune Belyeu. As the days began to run together and information overload began to take its toll, a shining light, by the name of Kayla Upchurch, came blasting onto the scene. With only a few days to essentially catch-up on a multiple year process, before trial was to begin, she was able to shine light on key facts and circumstances that no one else had caught, maybe because we were all just too inundated with information and we were all so deep into it or maybe because she is just that good. I tend to believe the latter. If that were the only contribution she made, it would have been enough, but it didn’t stop there.
While everyone else was trying their best to explain to a panicking, angry, emotionally and mentally drained man what was what, why things had to be done in a certain way or what really mattered versus what didn’t, I just wasn’t getting it. Then, Kayla Upchurch stepped in. Kayla was able to connect with me on a much more personal level, a real life level. Simply stated, she explained things in a way I could comprehend. She was able to talk me down, when I felt broken and at my most defeated point.
Someone once said, there are no winners or losers in a divorce case, and that may be true. However, it can help tremendously if you go in properly armed and feel 100% backed and supported by your team. Not taking anything away from the other members of my legal team, and I pray I’m never in this position again, but I would not dare go into a battle like this again, without Kayla Upchurch in my corner.
Kayla, thank you for all you did, before, during and have continued to do after trial, to help me find understanding and peace of mind. Thank you for being strong, resilient and honest with me. Thank you for making me feel like a had my best friend watching my back. Thank you, Kayla…MY friend.

I honestly don't even know where to start. I was represented by Kayla Upchurch, Dorthy Sachs, Nechene Belyeu, and Mary Gegen. I had a very difficult contested divorce with relocation and custody issues. I am very pleased with the way things turned out. Things didn't always go my way during the litigation but Kayla and the my legal team were always by my side. Always reassuring me that every thing would work out. Kayla always went above and beyond and is VERY knowledgeable of the law. I know without her by my side I would not have had the successful outcome that I did. My team took on an extremely difficult case and encountered several issues that no one expected and few had ever seen. Kayla worked tirelessly to make sure that the truth was told and presented it perfectly. She stood by every single one of my requests and guided me through the entire lengthy process. Though we did face several difficult challenges along the way Ms. Upchurch her through research and dedicated time to my case provided us the pathway we needed to rise to victory. Not only was she able to defend us from unjust and not true accusations, her calm, reassuring, and empathetic demeanor offered emotional succor to myself and those I care about most. My children and I will be eternally grateful for having such a great legal team by our side. Kayla is a fairly new lawyer but the knowledge she has is amazing and she fights so hard. I know as a lawyer she will only continue to do great things for her clients in her future. She definitely deserves a BIG raise after my case, and I know she will go so far in her career. If I ever have any legal issues in future with custody, she will be the only person I call. Kayla and Dodi thank you SO MUCH for always giving me the strength to keep going everyday, never giving up, and most of all of giving me my life back, the only one I have ever known.
I also wanted to say thank you to Helen, one of the receptionists at Meriweather and Tharp- I was going through the most challenging, darkest, difficult times in my life and Helen was always so sweet, kind, caring and helpful. I know I wasn't always one of the most easiest clients you have dealt with, for this I apologize, but thank you for always being sweet and understanding.

Divorce and custody issues are extremely difficult and undesirable, but when it became unavoidable, I was so relieved to have a team at Meriwether & Tharp, LLC represent me and the interests of my children. I settled on this firm partly because I was impressed with just how thoroughly they educate readers through their website, and provide resources online that other firms would charge for. I found that I had made an excellent choice. When my ex-husband was served with the divorce papers, he immediately promised to make the process a "long, drawn out, nasty battle", and he lived up to it. However, Kayla Upchurch and my team were very professional, communicative, supportive and validating the entire time. Taking the "high road" was always my teams response to antagonism and lack of cooperation from the other side, while never diminishing the strength of my representation. I knew what to expect from my team during the process, which was important to me at a time in my life when everything else was uncertain. Communication and responses were prompt, usually the same day or the next day, and the case was settled in mediation on 7.31.2020, about two months shy of what would have been 21 years of marriage. I'm happy with the terms of the settlement, and even happier to close this chapter my life and my children's lives, and move on. I do not wish the circumstances leading up to divorce, or divorce on anyone, but if that becomes the reality you are dealt, I highly recommend Meriwether & Tharp, LLC.
