I first met Phil over three years ago when I was waiting for my daughter to be released at the Gwinnett Co. jail. I was devastated because I did not understand how she got to this point. I had only recently found out she was bipolar with psychosis. She had been misdiagnosed for about 10 years and was not receiving the treatment she needed. As Phil was walking past the waiting area, he could see I was distressed. I asked if he was a lawyer and he sat down and spoke with me. I have no doubt that God put him there that day at that time to help me. He listened, gave me his card. About four months later my daughter was in a horrible auto accident in which the passenger in her car died. She was hit broad side by an 18-wheeler. I do not know how she lived, but she was severely physically broken and needed multiple surgeries. I had retained Phil's card and I called him. He comforted my wife and me. He gave us advice. We retained him to represent our daughter and help us through the nightmare. He had the accident investigated. He kept us up to date. He helped us find a much better psychiatrist. He was honest with me and my daughter. He did not always tell us what we wanted to hear, but he always told us what we needed to hear. In all, my daughter was arrested four times over an 18-month period before she finally got the help she needed. Phil helped us get through this time and played a large role in convincing our daughter to get the psychiatric help she needed. Phil navigated the case and, with the help of the investigators, put together what probably happened in the accident. He put together a plan with the DA's office that resolved three of the cases and required my daughter to get the treatment she needed. She was monitored for a for a year. Now it seems to be a way of life for her. Every day brings its own challenges for someone who is bipolar, but thanks to Phil, my wife and I have our daughter back and she is the best she has been in over 10 years.
