This is a review for Mr. Schachter and his law firm, The Schachter Law Firm, LLC. It is to inform other disabled veterans about my experience I have been dealing with from David and his team. During my initial call to the office I gave them my credit card number after they told me they would not charge it if things do not work out. People living on fixed incomes can understand the importance of this concept when making appointments for consultations. Besides their PERFECT ONLINE REVIEWS, this was the reason I agreed to have a consult with David, so that I am not out here wasting time and money on firms that do not have the ability to represent disabled veterans properly. A common theme in today's family court system. After the office made the appointment I told them to inform the team that I am a disabled veteran that understands his rights. I made sure they wrote this information down in my case notes. A week later when I called David for the consult I was able to tell very early on that his firm was not interested in the well being of my child, they didn't even care to ask. They only wanted to know if I was willing to allow a court to garnish my VA benefits, which the Supreme Court has ruled a crime. David's staff became very agitated on the phone when I confronted them with this fact, as he kept saying over and over again that I was wrong. As a potential client, I then requested that they speak with the team of Veteran advocacy lawyers who fought in the Supreme Court over this issue. I have been in contact with these military lawyers for the past year now, and they are more than willing to speak with family court lawyers to help guide them in this sensitive matter. They said no. I realized right then that David's firm had no intention of learning the proper rules and procedures for veteran benefits. The call ended immediately after that. A complete waste of my time, as other disabled veterans would understand. A week later when I found out they charged me the $250 for our short phone conversation, I called David's office to rectify the situation. They hung up on me after I revealed my name. And now that I'm writing reviews about my experiences David is calling me a menace and sending private messages threatening to sue me. I have gone to great lengths to give them every opportunity to handle this with professionalism and understanding, only to be harassed and threatened with lawsuits. If you are a disabled veteran I would recommend you not visit David's website, or call his office.

When I visited David for a consultation, I noticed that sitting in his office he had a copy of "The Art of War" on his desk. He told me that the book was symbolic to him due to the intensity of the "battles" fought in the courtrooms. When I asked him what makes him think he could win the case for me, he responded "my fear of losing". Being a father fighting for custody is already an uphill battle. With everything that went on with my case, I doubt I would have won with anyone but David and his willingness to put up a fight even if odds are against you.
