I received an $11,500 bad check from Chris Chauncey for services I provided for a community event. Several other businesses were not paid for their services. The winners of the marathon were not paid the advertised $5,000. Yet the State's Attorney refuses to charge him with anything. The State's attorney would rather see it's local business suffer. They would rather let a man from 7 hrs away come in and cheat people out of approx $36,000 total. Don't be confused. Writing a bad check for this amount is supposed to be a felony, but not in this county. This State's Attorney says it's okay. Advertising money to winners and not paying is fraud, but not in this county. This State's Attorney says it's okay. This State's Attorney decides what the laws are. Expecting justice here is a joke.
