My case was summarily rejected -- by text message -- a day or so after a 5 minute phone interview with a staff intake person who was not, I believe, an attorney, paralegal, RN or MD, and appeared to not understand and/or showed little interest in the facts I related to her. (The case partially involved physical injuries to an elderly family member, which we provided photos of. It also involved more complex issues and injuries separate from the first injury. I provided clear photos of the physical injuries -- Injuries that would not have occurred in the absence of neglect. Pretty much a slam dunk. But, still, rejected. The other part of the case involved issues admittedly more nuanced and complex to bring, but not impossibly so. I will try other firms, possubly smaller offices with time to intake the case longer than 5 or 10 minutes, and hopefully more risk-tolerant of such challenging, complex cases -- at least regarding the second part of the case. It's disheartening because the defendants could do this to another family, and the failures in this case are now causing the death of our family member.

This post may be a bit lengthy but I need you to understand why THIS law firm is my go to for legal matters. So I'm a member of prepaid legal and I was referred to this office by them. I've been doing business with Stone & Maya for years and they've handled a few cases personally for me. But what has built my confidence and trust in letting them handle my loved ones affairs was a case of a personal and sensitive nature. I lost my husband and the father of my children to Covid last year. At the time of his death he had a lawsuit. The law office of Stone & Maya was handling his case. When I notified them of his death, I just knew his case was a wash! I felt also that my children whose hearts were already broken would feel even more saddened that their father wouldn't been vindicated for all the pain and suffering he endured in his accident. But to my surprise…feeling the despair of what my family was going through, Lawrence Maya decided to try and salvage his case. He said he would proceed in representing my dead husband using ME as an administrator over the estate. The words I'll always remember Attorney Lawrence Maya saying to me is, "I'm so sorry for your loss and I will do everything in my power to make sure that your husband's heirs receive what he would have received had he lived to finish his lawsuit." They went head on and did just that in less than a year!! And although they had SYMPATHY for our situation. It was the EMPATHY they showed that convinced ME they were one of very few law firms that GENUINELY care about the people they represent and NOT just about the money or the win! My children DID receive their inheritance as promised! I have went on to refer this law office to other family and friends because I believe in them and what they represent. They have an honest moral compass that you just don't see often in lawyers, they're very communicative, they keep you informed of what's going on with your case, they return phone calls and messages in a timely manner, they're informative about the law and they make sure that you understand all of what's going on with your case through the ENTIRE process. They are compassionate and they make time for you. Their staff is respectful, friendly and proficient in getting you the documents you need. What I ask from you or anyone interested in retaining their services is to simply COMMUNICATE! Work with them in helping your case run smoothly. You will have a peaceful stress free experience while going through the process... REGARDLESS of the outcome because you will know AND feel like you were dealt with fairly! Let me just end this by saying I'm not a spokesman for this law firm and I have never much trusted attorneys in my life time. I've always referenced attorneys as being as crooked as car dealers. BUT I'm happy to say that the law office of Stone and Maya stands apart from that! They believe that EMPATHY has more power behind it then sympathy. Empathy gets the job done! For a firm to leave you with less monetary compensation than what they earned and then make you pay for additional clerical services out of their office is a slap in the face . I will not consider doing business with this firm again . I hired them with confidence that I would benefit when I handed them a Sure win of a case . The benefit was to their own. My injuries were handled with insignificance . I felt as if they were working for the Big name insurance company of the defendant S, F. . and not for me . After six years the arbitration judge had settled the case at an amount just under what S. F. said they're not going to budge from . Who's working for who ? State farm owns them all .
