I am 43 and have been in the printing industry since I was 15 years old. This is the only thing I know how to do. I have never been unemployed in my life, ever. Five years ago I was employed at a Minuteman Press Franchise and was sold 20% shares in the company. I helped build that shop from losing 5k a month to 500k in gross sales per year. We had growth every year. I never was given a raise for five years. I asked for one repeatedly but was always told no. So I decided to start my own print shop. I gave my notice July 6th 2010 and it was accepted and left two weeks later. I started my shop August 2 and everything was fine. Until they found out and I began to receive cease and desist letters. I contacted an attorney which responded to the letter but then told me I needed a trial attorney. I paid another attorney and he took my money and began to negotiate on my behalf. He then tells me I have to shut down and move my shop out of Joliet. We parted ways and I found another firm very reputable here in town. They looked into the fiduciary duty and told me a few days later that the courts are divided on those cases. They then said it would be too difficult to defend, keep in mind I DID NOT have a non-compete contract. So I almost called it quits! I then contacted Querry & Harrow and John Brom. He took my case and said not to worry and kept me focused on my business while he took care of the legal stuff. We then fought the injunction to shut me down and not only won that part but also forced them to settle the case and end this nightmare I found myself in. John saved me and my business and I can continue to do the work that I have done for my entire life. I am so grateful to have met John, he has changed my life and my employees.
