As per a few of the other reviews here, Chris comes across as if he will fight for you and is very prepared. He advised us that there would be a certain retainer fee for him and another fee for another attorney involved. We stressed to him that we had a strict budget. Unfortunately, a simple case for legal guardianship dragged on from 1 court date to three. In fact, we were advised it was a slam dunk case and instead nearly didn't go through. He came across as very unprepared and nervous in court and by the time everything was finished it was at least twice the cost. Save your money and find someone with more experience. Unfortunately, I would never refer anyone to him.

Stacy Stusowski is an attentive and intelligent attorney. She is our real estate lawyer and has done a fine job of assisting us in closing our house sale in Lake County Illinois.

Stacy helped us with a complete estate package. We were really pleased with her professionalism and friendliness. We would definitely recommend her to other.

We hired Chris for my husbands child support case. My experience was horrible. We gave information to Chris that wasn't acted on. Instead of fighting he was intent on brokering unfavorable deals with the opposing side. In addition, he was grossly unprepared and left our case in shambles. I really believe that we would of been better off representing ourselves. Please think twice before hiring Chris; as soon as you pay your retainer you won’t hear from him at ALL. Watch out for this attorney.!!!!

At first meeting nice, polite told you everything you wanted hear. Then from there it looked like it was going to be good hire but it was not the case. As one of the reviewers mentioned communication way below average. Follow through on his work very questionable. All I kept hearing “I’m trying”. The retainer sure went was working hard. Cause that ran out fast. After that $340 an hour for writing a letter that was more than likely a copy and paste process. Once my case was resolved, I say resolved with heavy sarcasm. Could not get a hold of the guy for general questions about my case. This is a good one. I was charged for what I would have to say was a 10 minutes conversation. After that he did not answer phone calls or emails. Hey mister Haaff as I said in my last email to you. I least have the common curiosity to say “ I wish to no longer with you”. He couldn’t even do that either. If your looking for someone to represent you, don’t go to this guy. Bottom line he is not very good and not professional.

To put it politely dont hire Mr. Haaf unless you only need assistance in walking into the courtroom and help bending over while your in there... he tells you what you want to hear but come down to it only proceeds to us his intellectual banter to cover the fact that he is just there for the appearance... I assure you he doesn't care about your situation and won't put up the fight that he makes you think he will.

To say Chris Haaff helped me through some hard times would be an understatement. Chris and his practice are absolutely amazing. He is very knowledgeable with family law and was able to guide me in the right direction with my family situation. I am very thankful I was able to connect with him and use his services. Chris did a great job for me. He worked hard on the issues that were important to me and represented my best interest. He was well prepared for court. Also, he was tough with the other attorney when he needed to be and the judge seemed to like his style. I would recommend Chris Haaff to anyone.

When you first meet with him he tells you everything you want to hear. After you pay his retainer he's done with you. He does the bare minimum. Never returns calls or emails. He works hard at trying to work the least amount possiable. Hopefully it's not too late and hopefully he has not done too much damage. He had court dates that he didn't tell me about. When I told him what I wanted he said he understood but did not follow through do not use him. Now Haaff is trying to get money from me that he says I owe him. I only had him for three weeks before I fired him and somehow he thinks he did almost 6000 dollars worth of work and he messed up calculations that ended up costing me an extra 340 dollars a month. When I contacted him on his wrong calculations and if he used the 40% max cap in determining support he said he would get back to me and guess what he never did.

I hired attorney Chris Haaf in the Spring of 2017 to help me with a dispute between my ex wife over time with my son, and to help pursue a few other modifications in our joint parenting agreement. When I first met with him, he was very personable. He played up the fact that he was also a divorced father, and that he had family in my same profession so I related very well to him. He had a firm handshake, looked me in the eye, and needless to say I felt very good about providing him with a large retainer. That was the end of the good things. From the first month, Mr. Haaf was extremely poor at returning phone calls and emails. Days up to an entire week, with no responses. I would try him at the start of the business day, mid day, and evening. Once i did finally reach him, he would always have an excuse. Whether it was helping other clients or busy with his family, there was always an excuse. He explained that he liked every one of his clients to feel like “they were the only client.” I decided to give him one more chance. As my next court date, one which was very important in my case about a week out, I figured it was my turn in importance. Still no responses via phone or email. As my case was less than three business days away, I ended retained a different attorney. I sent him a certified letter and email to notify him that I would be taking by business elsewhere. And his response, you may be wondering? It was an invoice, showing how he carefully used every dollar of my retainer, some of it highly questionable. My favorite part was how there were items listed, “at no charge” after I notified him that he would no longer be representing me. Unbelievable. I have requested a partial refund in his retainer fee, almost two weeks ago, and have received zero response either way. Now I am paying another attorney to undo some of his motions, as they were wrong and having to start from square one. A complete waste of time and money. I would not recommend Mr. Haaf for any legal needs.
