My sister's son got into a lot of trouble (multiple burglaries with his friends) and had to appear in juvenile court. I was referred to Steve McCollum and after looking him up online I met with him and Dan Hodgkinson. I helped hire their firm to help my nephew. I was bothered a little when it was Dan who showed up for court, but got over that pretty fast when he went into court and the judge, court deputy, and prosecutor all greeted him like he was their best friend. It was clear he knew and was liked by everyone. After a couple of court dates and Dan meeting with the prosecutor he managed to get things worked out where most of the charges were withdrawn and my nephew won't have any permanent damage to his life. He just did a great job, explained everything to us, and my sister and I couldn't have been happier with the results. He is an excellent attorney and I highly recommend him.

Let me start off by stating two facts. Number 1, I have never written a review for anyone or anything on the internet in my life and number two, if I could I would rate Daniel Hodgkinson far above 10. Let me tell you our story in short form. Our son of 35 years by accident got caught in the Lake County Criminal system. Although, he did not nothing wrong nor did he break the law he was in the legal machine as if he was guilty and charged with a Class A Misdemeanor. Having never been involved in the Criminal Court System, we did not know how to proceed. At that point, we a hired lawyer who proved to be confusing and not helpful at all. He told us, we needed to accept a conviction of some sort or start hiring expert witnesses for trial. We then searched for another lawyer and were very fortunate to find Daniel. When I called Daniel to set up an appointment, he spent nearly a half hour on the phone explaining the process and how things work. A few days later we (whole family) met with him. He listened to the facts and then proceeded to explain how he would proceed. We felt pretty good after that meeting. At the end of the meeting we retained him as our new Attorney of record. The next meeting (about two weeks later) and prior to a court appearance, he slowly and carefully walked us though every step of the process and how he was planning to procced. He was extremely careful, set our expectations correctly and he literally sat there and kept answering every question we had one by one. Over the next few days we had some additional questions and he returned our calls and patiently answered each every question. To make a long story short, he met with the ADA and reviewed the case. In the end, the ADA looking at the facts agreed this was not criminal issue and the Case was DISMISSED. Without Daniel‘s slow and thoughtful help we probably would not have a happy ending. We can’t thank him enough and he can use us for a reference any time. James
