Mr. Watson articulates well and has good communication skills. Unfortunately he is poor at responding and did not work very hard for his client. There was no itemizing of the usage of the retainer, so the client had no idea to what extend the retainer was utilized, or even what was really done. We don't know in any detail what we paid for, and in the end, the client did not get what he deserved, or what the attorney claimed would happen. There were other small issues that should have been red flags, but we kept making allowances and exceptions. For example, an affidavit was sent for signature that had the name of a prior client on it instead of the current client; this had to be corrected. (And was a violation of privacy for the former client.) The bottom line is that we had to keep pushing for things that were promised and an unbearable amount of time went by between correspondences, leaving the client unsure of his standing, and in the dark about any progress or lack thereof. And of course, as mentioned, the outcome was unsatisfactory.
Breakdown:
Response time: Mr. Watson took our case and left us waiting for weeks at a time, just to get a response to an email or text.
Sloppy: Mr. Watson sent us an affidavit form that had the wrong name on it; presumably a former client's name was on the form.
Lazy?: Mr. Watson planned to send us the police report, that never happened. We are not sure if he talked to the Prosecutor's office as he claimed.
No accountability: Mr. Watson took our retainer, but we never received any accounting of how our money was used, and whether the retainer was fully utilized.
Ineffective: in the end, we settled for a result that was not satisfying, with the feeling that it was because he did not explore all the avenues of resolution that we discussed.
