I have deep concerns regarding the handling of my case through Newlin Disability. I am puzzled by the high ratings of their firm, as my experience thus far has been frustrating and concerning. Initially, my case manager was assigned as “Ramun”(sp?) for just one day, only to be abruptly switched to Ms. Trisha Esquillo. Despite an extensive online search, I am unable to verify any credentials for Ms. Esquillo through state bar associations or other credentialing resources, and the contact number listed in her emails is disconnected. Additionally, there is no photo of her on the “My Case” portal, which raises further questions, and her responses often reflect limited or even a lack of familiarity with Social Security law. For example, Ms. Esquillo advised that I could return to full-time work if desired without impacting my case. However, as I understand it, returning to work full-time would immediately disqualify me from disability benefits due to income thresholds and work hour limitations in my state. Such misinformation could have severely impacted my eligibility had I followed this guidance. I am left feeling as though I am doing the majority of the casework on my own, with minimal, and often times, inaccurate guidance. While I understand that my case involves a non-physical disability, which may present unique challenges, I do not feel I have received competent or thorough support from Newlin's law team. Receiving a denial for my disability claim was expected, however I have concerns about whether continuing with the Newlin firm for the appeals process is in my best interest, particularly if cases are outsourced to unknowledgable, unlicensed, inexperienced, or inadequately qualified staff. This feedback reflects my experience so far and is not a final assessment. I am open to revising my feedback if I receive appropriate and effective assistance with my case. However, at this point, I am deeply concerned by the lack of knowledge and support I’ve experienced. It feels as if I could have asked anyone outside of a professional setting (a cashier or waitress) and received a similar level of insight into social security law as I have from my current case manager. I am hopeful that we can redirect our efforts and approach my claim with the seriousness, competence, and dedication it deserves. Should these improvements be made, I would gladly adjust my feedback appropriately. Until then, I am feeling left alone in this fight, unsupported, and misguided. I feel my intuition to trust Newlin Disability has been betrayed.
