Everyone at Shepherd Elder Law Group is top notch in my opinion, from the staff to the attorneys. Ms. Shepherd is extremely knowledgeable and was a godsend in handling my disability compensation case with the sometimes slow and frustrating Veterans Administration. Without her insight, I am sure my case would not have had such a positive outcome and for that, I am eternally grateful. I am now rated service-related Vietnam Agent Orange disabled and because of Ms. Shepherd's sincere compassion, knowledge and determination, I can rest easy knowing my family will be taken care of. I look forward to working with Shepherd Elder Law Group in the near future and highly recommend her.

When I heard that my mother-in-law might be eligible for VA benefits, a friend suggested calling Shepherd Elder Law Group. They were able to provide me with all paper work that was required, a list of items that would be needed and then explained how to obtain needed documents. After paper work was completed, we had a meeting to check that all was done correctly, so that process would not be slowed down by missing or incorrect documentation. The benefits were received very quickly and I could not have done it without them.

Samantha Shepherd and colleagues have been unbelievably helpful in moving through bureaucratic hurdles and uncertainties, enabling both my parents to have the good hospital and other medical care they needed and deserved as their lives drew to a close. They are a group of very caring and responsive people, conscientious, extremely well informed, and somehow able to shape the impossible situation into a workable plan. My brother and I wholeheartedly recommend their services.

Samantha was very knowladgeable about both the states of Kansas and Missouri, and was able to relieve fears we had. She was extremely helpful in getting my husband to answer difficult questions, and make decisions that he needed to make but had been putting off.

The first meeting my brothers and I had with Samantha Shepherd, our lives were in disarray. We sadly were facing the diagnosis of our father with moderate-severe Alzhiemers. Twice in one week I was told by strangers who were doing their job to help us prepare my dad for his future, we needed to hire an elder care attorney. As good luck would have it, I was given in a packet of misc. information regarding caring for an aging parent a business card of Samantha’s. I clearly remember it was a Saturday that I left her a message, knowing no one would be in the office, but this is how desperate I was for someone to hear my voice, hear my cry for help. To my surprise I had a call from Samantha that Saturday evening, she was on the west coast and phoned in to catch up on messages. She said she could hear how upset I was in the message I left and as she spoke to me, I was already calming down and she ended the conversation with the assurance that we would meet at the beginning of the week and discuss options and perhaps a course of action, if we chose to hire her. Indeed we did hire her before that first meeting had ended. Our journey with Samantha started in November of 2010 and with our father passing in April 2012, we are nearing the end of our business relationship. She’s compassionate, she’s on top of her game, she knows her stuff, she doesn’t waste time, she gets answers, she moves mountains and all the while comforting you with her soft, yet well spoken, manner and warm smile. And yes, I found myself wanting to include her at my next dinner party. She made it clear at our first appointment, she represented our father and we couldn't have ask for a better advocate and supporter of his rights to the system that you must have knowledge and education of the current laws or you will drown in a sea of never ending paperwork and confusion. I never second guessed her ability, her leadership nor her ethics. I always felt connected...she would email me just to say she was heavy in thought about our dad's current health and I really felt she cared. She's just a good person, a family needs that when the prognosis is just so grim. We never regretted our decision to hire her as our family's elder care attorney, her staff was equally as gracious, professional, helpful and kind. Upon the passing of my father, I received from Samantha and her staff a sympathy card that each took the time to write a personal message to me, that my friend, is a Hallmark Cards commercial! It meant the world to me.
