It has been a nightmare dealing with this office. Morris Bart may be good at dealing the auto accidents but when it comes to hurricane damage and dealing with the insurance companies they are horrible. We have been more than patient with this office but we are running out of patience now. We are on our fourth attorney and the last 3 were not doing their jobs and just tried to hurry up and close our case. Then once we accepted the very low offer Liga made just so we could start working on our home ( we have $250,000 worth of damages in our home from Ida and we aren’t getting half that amount) our second attorney (Will) didn’t stay on top of Liga to get the paperwork so we can sign and receive our checks. It took over 3 months to get that paperwork and it was our third attorney (Pierre) who got it after my wife had to reach out and find out who our new attorney was and get him filled in on our case. Once we got the checks Pierre did not look at the checks and didn’t realize Liga sent us expired checks so my mortgage company could not endorse the checks. We had to send the checks back to Liga which was over a month ago and wait for them to send a new one. Still no checks. It’s been 7 months since we agreed to an amount and still have no checks. Every time I mention taking Liga to court it’s like these attorneys try to talk us out of it because they don’t want to. We have family who has less damage to their home and with a different attorney’s office getting way more money than us because their attorney is fighting for them and advised our family to not accept Liga's lowball offer and told Liga they will see them in court. Now Liga is trying to work with our family and offering them more money so they can avoid going to court. When we went to mediation we were basically told you don’t know who Liga has in their pockets and if we win our case they will just appeal it and it will be a gamble and we may get less money than what they originally offered. We are now on our fourth attorney and have yet to hear from that attorney. Not to mention our first attorney Brigid sent Liga an email with my wife in which my wife mentioned how we had to use some of our SBA money to pay for a place to stay because our house was unlivable at the time so Liga tried to turn that around on us in mediation and say they are not giving us any more money bc we used insurance money to pay for living expenses. Like why would our attorney send them that email and the SBA money is a loan from the SBA that we are paying back and not insurance money from the insurance company. The insurance company was supposed to reimburse us for those expenses. Did our attorney try to fight that in mediation? Nope, he did not say a word. We will never use Morris Bart again and everyone we know is witnessing what we are dealing with and they are spreading the word to other people as well not to use the office. If something is not done soon to make things right then we are at the point where we will be making phone calls and reaching out to the news stations. Why are we even paying for an attorney at this point because our attorneys are not working for us? If you have hurricane damage in the future DO NOT GO with Morris Bart. It's not one call that's all. It's more like a million calls and you doing the majority of the work yourself and them taking 33 and a third out of your settlement which by the way is more than what other attorneys that people I know hired for their Ida case are charging them after filing suit and are fighting for their clients.
