Debra is truly a gift of a human being! My family member advised me to speak with her regarding my custody case that seemed to just drag for the last few years. Debra is THE ONE to hire if you're going through a complicated divorce (or any divorce, really). Long story short, my divorce took 3 years, 3 months and 25 days from start to finish. Debra was with me and for me though it all. My ex-husband went through 4 attorneys by the time it was all said and done. I got the house (I didn't have to sell it or give my ex a dime of the equity), I got the kids, a big monetary award, about 80% of my attorneys fees paid (which means my ex paid my attorney to fight his attorney)... and BEST of ALL .... INDEFINITE alimony (almost unheard of these days). Debra was my lawyer and my savior during my divorce from an unyielding and uncompromising ex. Debra Ackerman is a FIGHTER. When I hired her, I was downtrodden after a nasty breakup and my ex was denying me access to my daughter. I knew it was going to get ugly and the gloves had to come off, so I needed to find someone who could handle that as well as mountains of evidence to go through. In the end, thanks to Ms. Ackerman, we were prepared for WAR and she truly brought a passion and conviction to court that was unexpected; the other side never saw it coming. I joked that on the day of the hearing she must have had a lot of coffee as I could hardly keep up with her! I have worked with her for six months. To be frank, we have had our disagreements at times, but the best kind of lawyer is someone who will tell you like it is and isn't afraid to play the devil's advocate sometimes, and that makes her all the better in court.
