Nina was appointed by the court for my two children during a bitter custody battle. She was an excellent lawyer who faught very heard to defend my children, even thogh the judge ruled against her recommendation at first. Weeks after the judges ruling, things started to get even worse then it was before for my 12 year old. After the first ruling she filed for emergency hearing and got the over night suspened permanetly from other parents house. She has given my children their child hood back, peace of mind, and security where they can go to sleep without having to worry abut anything. They can be care free children again. Her fees were very reasonable. I would recommend her to any one one who is in a bad situation and needs legal help to defend and to protect the children. Thank you Nina for all you have done for my children to give them a healthy and happy childhood going forward.

My son is a young adult living with mental illness. His condition rendered him unable to communicate or advocate for his own needs. I sought and acquired Legal Guardianship of my son with the help of Ms. Helwig. As a result, I was able to obtain proper medical care for my son which gave him his life back and he has now been happy, healthy and functional for the past one and half years! He has returned to college, maintains a high B grade point average and is enjoying his life. Ms. Nina Helwig was appointed as the best interest attorney for a contested child custody descrepancy that I was going through. Ms.Helwig was required to interview my two children during a time that the girls were experiencing anxiety and sadness with the recent family separation of the family. Upon Ms. Helwig meeting the girls she quickly engaged with them and found a common ground with them individually in order for them to connect with her. Although I am unaware of the private individual conversations they had with Ms. Helwig, I do know that they felt comfortable and safe speaking to her. Nina Helwig is a very responsive and professional attorney for child custody related issues. She is the Best Interest Attorney for my son. She was involved with our case since the separation. She testified during the Custody Hearing and has met multiple times with me and my ex-husband and our child. Ms. Helwig really came through for me and my family last month. I was worried that I was going to lose custody of my daughter to my ex who has alcohol problems. I noticed that there are a couple of mediocre reviews for Ms. Helwig. I can tell you that as a Best Interest Attorney, there will usually be 50% of any BIA clients who are not going to be happy with the outcome of the results. In our case, the court ordered Ms. Helwig as our BIA. Neither party had any knowledge of who Ms. Helwig was other than reading the reviews on this site. I can tell you that Ms. Helwig investigated our custody situation inside and out. She was thorough, professional, and really dug into our custody matter to find the REAL truth. She found out the true extent of the acrimony, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, she only cared about what would be best for the children. Reading all other reviews about Ms. Helwig lead me to believe that any negative reviews of her are from parties who ended up on the losing end of custody. I can say this with 100% certainty...If Ms. Helwig is retained as your BIA she will find the truth. If a party is acting in a way that is detrimental to YOUR children, then Ms. Helwig will get to the bottom of it and make her recommendations based on that information. Her prior experience gives her an exceptional ability to really develop a clear picture, and reach the TRUTH on behalf of the children she represents. 5 stars is not nearly a high enough rating for Nina Helwig!

Nina Helwig was appointed by the court when I was going through a terrible custody battle over my two sons. My ex-wife and I had recently gone through a messy divorce in which neither of us were really blameless. Nina entered the case with a completely open mind. She was very respectful and did not take sides. Basically, she tried to determine the best situation for our kids. She interviewed everyone in the family as well as relevant friends and school officials. I did not completely win the case, but I think her recommendations were very fair and sensible for my kids.
