It was the week between Christmas and New Years. I was informed I was being taken to court by my daughters mother trying to terminate having my daughters main residence with me. In a panic and not having any luck finding some one to even get back to me . It was seeming to be impossible due to it being such a popular vacation week. Attorney Tom Marks recently completed our estate plan which was comprehensive and contained all the required and important documents. During our first meeting Tom took the time to ask questions to get to know us as people and our desires for the future. This made us feel comfortable that our desires would be executed. Tom was extremely thorough and detailed during this well planned six month long process. We feel a sense of relief and appreciation that our estate has everything in order and was completed in our best interest. My wife and I are in our mid 50’s and like many people, we waited way too long to have an estate plan, trusts, wills, health care proxies, power of attorney, and related items. Also, like most people we have been fortunate that none of these documents have been needed. Not having them became a looming feeling, a feeling that Tom easily relieved. I was searching for an attorney to handle our trust planning and found Tom via his website and felt he could be the right person to handle this responsibility for us. I then began to procrastinate probably for over a year, since I sometimes wonder if information on a website is accurately portrayed. At some point I had a conversation with a friend and mentioned that I was looking for an estate plan, but I never mentioned Tom. My friend mentioned that some of his clients used Tom Marks for estate planning. I took this as a trusted endorsement and immediately sent Tom an inquiry. My first email contact with Tom was in the evening and despite the late timing, he answered my questions within an hour and provided specific pricing for the services we might need. I appreciated the transparency and the value of the retainer style fee. Tom is a complete professional yet very personable and sincere. He scheduled everything at the start of the process right down to the final closing signatures six months out. He explained everything at the initial meeting and we never felt rushed while he patiently answered our questions. As additional questions arose between follow-up meetings, he promptly answered them. Tom articulated the process in an understandable way and helped us make decisions together. Tom sent reminders as to what was necessary to stay on track to complete our plan by our closing date. Tom exuded a personable confidence while he made sure we understood the best options for us and our children. It’s apparent Attorney Marks is passionate about what he does and prides himself on teaching what you should know and completing this extremely important process.
