I was going through my Outlook after moving to a new computer and realized I first started talking with Attorney Sousa 10 years ago. So instead of a review, let me tell you a story. The best part of this story is, it is all true and, in some aspects, still being written. 2011 - 2013 were hard times for me. Suffice to say things beyond my control led me to seek help from an attorney. I was told to talk with Attorney Sousa. I didn't know what to expect. If you are in the probate process, your trust in humanity is probably not at its best. The thing I recall when I first met with Attorney Sousa, was not so much the legal counsel, which turned out to be spot on, but the concern for my well-being. Color me surprised, I had heard all the cliches and anecdotes about how heartless lawyers are. I came away from our meeting with a sense that I was more than a docket number. I was a person going through a bad time and if I listened and did what my attorney advised the situation could have an outcome that would work. I can't put 10 years of a relationship in a review. However, I can say that more than just going to court, giving me updates and billing me, there has been something different over the decade of our working together. Attorney Sousa continually advised me on the reality of the situation and potential outcomes and then does something else that was unexpected. She asked me what I wanted out of life. I was surprised. I asked myself why does this matter? Outside of the courtroom there really isn't any need or initiative for Attorney Sousa to concern herself with me as a person. Her perspective was to get an idea of what I wanted as a client and then work within the legal system to set me up for success in life. Ten years later, I can say that I wake up and look forward to what life has to offer. Not once did I ever get the impression that I was a widget on the proverbial legal assembly line. I mattered and my case mattered because Attorney Sousa wanted the best for me. Just got thru the divorce proceedings yesterday 4/11/19 – with Stephanie. Really have to say to all the gentleman out there – get a female lawyer – Call Stephanie. You want to have a fighting chance against the x- wife correct, do not kid yourself call. She helped me in so many ways going into this blind she was simply amazing. Thought I could represent myself in the beginning and after losing big a few times I came to my senses.
