I highly recommend Attorney Patrick Curley and his office. We recently retained Patrick to help my mother apply for MassHealth benefits. Patrick was able to accelerate MassHealth eligibility and avoid potential penalties. He helped us secure an early start date which maximized her benefits. In addition, he sought and won a modification to move the date back an additional 2 weeks when an unexpected medical charge was received for that earlier time frame. My mother had some considerable, outstanding bills which we expected to pay out of pocket. However, Patrick secured short term benefits initially which allowed some funds to be set aside for a limited period. In our case, she was able to use these funds to address all her obligations. We were not even aware of this option so saw this as a major, unexpected victory. After approval, Patrick completed his MassHealth service with a well written letter of instruction explaining what we needed to do going forward as well as what to expect with re-eligibility. We went to Patrick because we had retained him previously for MassHealth assistance and Lucy Budman for estate planning for a close relative. We were very satisfied then as now, so I would recommend Curley Law Firm LLC for estate planning as well. Patrick, Lucy, Debbie and Lynne are a truly professional team and very patient helping families work through what can be stressful issues. When my mom passed away, the MassHealth Estate Recovery Unit made a claim against my mom's estate for far more than the estate was worth. The estate consisted mainly of an old, small house. By the time the claim was made, I had already paid a great deal of money out of my own pocket expecting to get the money back when the house sold. When I explained the situation to the case worker for the claim, I was told that most of my expenses would not be allowed. I was going to lose a great deal of money. That is when I hired Patrick Curley. Patrick and his staff did an amazing job resolving the situation. He guided me in gathering the information that would best present my case and put together an impressive package for negotiating an agreement with the case worker. I came to Patrick Curley through a recommendation. I am an only child and had my 93 year old Mother living with me for the past 15 years. I had to place her in a specialized assisted living facility due to dementia. Her affairs were in disarray and she was in no position to shed any light on them. I contacted Patrick, filled out a detailed questionnaire and met with him. He had reviewed all my info and we went over it again together. He explained some options that would be available and beneficial to us. He was very empathetic and provided me with some peace of mind immediately. I went back again with my husband and Patrick reviewed a couple of plans he had crafted for us to follow and we decided on a course of action. From then on, he helped me every step of the way. He took care of everything. He often called the hospitals and the assisted living facility to clarify situations. I emailed him very often for counsel and updates. I always heard back from him immediately and he always helped me with whatever needed to be done. My Mother passed away 7 months after she left our home and he was even in contact with the funeral parlor on my behalf. I told Patrick then and I will say it again - there is no way I could have gotten through this stressful experience without his help. My only regret is that we should have seen him earlier.

When my husband suddenly needed nursing home care, Patrick Curley helped me with asset protection and handled filling out and filing the forms for Mass Health. Patrick is very knowledgeable about Mass Health and is always aware of any changes in Mass Health laws. I believe most people think they have to "spend down" the money they may have saved for their retirement, but that is not always true. Patrick was able to protect my husband's IRA so that I will be able to continue living the way my husband had planned. Some thought this couldn't be done, but Patrick succeeded and my husband's IRA was moved to my name. Patrick is an excellent lawyer and moves very quickly. He is confident in himself, and that helped me to feel everything would work out well, and it has. All of my questions were answered quickly and in a manner that I could understand. I am very thankful for his help and the help of his wonderful staff, Debbie, Lucy, and Lynne. I would highly recommend Patrick to anyone who needs help with nursing home plans for a loved one or estate planning.
