Working with legal matters is nothing that any of us want to do. My sister passed away in December of 2021, leaving behind four adult beneficiaries. She did not have a valid will, nor had her house, car, or household items been placed in a Trust. Being named the personal representative for this journey was a great challenge, and having been a legal secretary in my previous work life I knew I needed help. Kris Johnson is an outstanding attorney at Baar & Lichterman, and she was an amazing partner in assisting my navigation through probate court, as well as the "how to" in dealing with sibling beneficiaries with differing needs and desires. If you do not have a Will and Trust set up already I strongly encourage you to do so. The person left behind as the personal representative will have to deal with everything on your behalf. Even in families where challenges cannot be anticipated, as was the case here, I soon learned that the beneficiaries' did not want the same thing, which of course caused rifts. Here again, Kris was the "captain" I consistently went to for direction as to how to "right the ship". I highly recommend Kris Johnson at Baar & Lichterman as your "captain", and encourage you to let her work with you to get your documents in order, and assist you in handling the challenges that come with being a personal representative if pre-planning has not taken place. She is kind, eager to help, knowledgeable, and I total trusted and depended on her. She will do the same for you. Betty

My husband and me were AMAZED at how much we learned from Mike, how Mike presented the info (which is tons and complex) in a way that we easily understood, and how comfortable Mike made us feel talking and making decisions about some really hard topics. Mike and Melanie are quick to respond, answer all questions, and are super friendly. We would absolutely, 100%, recommend Mike and his team!

Kris Johnson did a superb job walking us through the options available to us with regards to estate planning (we are a retired couple). She was a thoughtful listener, meticulously responded to our questions, and throughout the planning process took time to make sure we were fully informed and comfortable in our knowledge of the process. When the plan was completed, she again carefully and thoroughly walked us through each key component. There is a lot to consider and decide upon in planning an estate, and we were fortunate to have Kris lead us through the process and achieve our goal in a cost and time-effective manner. Joel accomplished what 2 other attorneys couldn’t! After many years of trying to get resolution I found Joel via a Google search. I’m glad I called his office and I’m thankful for the service he provided. He went above and beyond my expectations! He did not back down from complex situations, if anything he pushed harder to make things happen and move everything forward.
