Very nice people, elegant atmosphere.

I've had the opportunity to watch Elliott Berlin grow from college, to law school, to practicing corporate law attorney. He puts in long hours to make sure his clients' rights are protected and his attention to detail makes all the difference. If I ever needed corporate law services, he is who I would call, and I refer these matters to him in my own law practice.

Worst waste of money ever,do not think you are going to get anywhere with custody. Unprepared,poor communication, office filled the wrong paper work making the process longer. Don't expect to get any reminder calls before your case they call afterwards to remind you.

Treated like something scraped off a shoe, i wouldn't even consider working with this perjorative leech.

The team at DeMent & Marquardt helped with estate planning for my parents, my wife's parents, and now ours. They are always there to answer questions and have helped guide us through some difficult times. We are very thankful to have such a great and reliable resource in a city the size of Kalamazoo. Many of the successful people in our sphere of influence recommended this firm and now we understand why. We have seen and heard of others opt to go different routes with their planning only to run into way too much grief and headache. For us, so far so good after working through the loss of 3 out of our 4 parents. It has allowed us to focus on the important side of the grieving process and removes the unnecessary stress we see so many others face. What a blessing.

After working with one attorney that knew very little and had to bring in an additional attorney to compensate for the lack of knowledge of which I was charged for both attorneys time, upon that attorney’s departure I was left in the hands of Tyler Stewart. Tyler felt he could prey on my family and myself. Being that we came to that business for their knowledge and expertise, he felt like he could take advantage of us, manipulate us and corner us into his services. Prey on our “ignorance/lack of knowledge “. My family and I were ready to depart with this firm after not being notified that Tyler had taken over as counsel until we received a bill in the mail for him “reading over our file”. He attempted to bully us into staying by saying the additional actions we needed had to be done by him, trumping up additional charges as well. I reached out to speak with his superiors which were of very little help and even defended him. Once consulting with a state attorney I was informed that Tyler had no right to counsel us the way he did. After we did our research and proved to this firm that we knew our rights their tone changed. It’s unfortunate we were charged and paid so much but yet did so much of the actual work and even more research for our cause and for our protection against them.

Very helpful and friendly

I was represented by Erika Salerno in a change of domicile case, where I was the plaintiff. First off she was a great lawyer to work with but her performance in the court room (Judy Phillips) was not her strong suit. I felt she did not fight for me or my points in the custody matter. I ended up having to pay child support from the date of entry (1.5yrs, $16.5K), no legal custody and 8 days a month for a child who I cut the ambilocal cord and help raise and pay for everything since -9months. Did I mention she is $400/hour? I publicly rate this experience with a hard thumbs down. Granted the court system is built against men, my feelings regarding this particular lawyer experience still stand. 2 stars for the end result I received versus how much I had to (still have to) pay.

I hired Mike Holmes to handle my mom's estate. He's extremely knowledgeable & made a difficult time a bit easier! I would definitely recommend him to anyone! Thanks Mike.

This firm did not represent myself directly, but with my interactions with a partner of this firm, she's one of the worst partners for Varnum. I wouldn't recommend this law firm to my worst enemy. Between the unprofessionalism, unresponsiveness, and biases, you'd be better off anywhere else!

We had the pleasure of being represented by Erika Salerno with Varnum, and it was by far the best experience in dealing with an attorney that we could have asked for! Very highly recommended!
