Contesting a Cellular Device Ticket - Facts below; Appointment for an arraignment at 2:00pm - waited over 2 hours in a zoom call to be called upon - I understand staffing is short, appointments are overbooked and timing can never be predicted. Now into the story of why I'm providing a 1 star review here for Mr. Baertschi -- After waiting 2 hours for a chance to speak. Mr Baertschi did not provide me an opportunity to speak, nor listen to my story - instead, stated: "I have given you your options based off the 6 words I just read "Driver was holding his cellular device in his right hand". You can take it or leave it - it's your choice. I did not even get an opportunity to present my side of the story or facts to this ticket. I accepted the consequences due to my own actions, but did not seem this was fair - I have never been pulled over for using a phone while driving, did not receive any warnings -- my driving record is clean. He would not offer any chances to negotiate or compromise. This was all finished within 2-3 minutes because he had other 'recipients'/claims he had to get to. Later, when going back into the zoom lobby with other folks who were here to contest their tickets - there was a young female who had the same offense as me "being on phone while driving" and it sounded like Mr. Baertschi gave her at least 10+ minutes of his time, yet I only received 2-3 minutes and was interrupted continually. Moral of my review - he does not treat everyone fairly and equally - I then was presented in front of a judge and offered my comment and the judge lowered my total fee without question. Equality at it's finest... Would never trust Mr. Baertschi with a case of mine, he had to look at his computer for notes the whole session. I read your comment. There's no way for me to respond... so I'll edit my review. I was simply navigating around my phone, I literally moved to my new residency and was there for less than 5 months and did not give me a chance out but instead resulted to punishment with your power. You are enabling young ones by letting them have a reduced fee because they can't afford the consequences... A 19 year old to be given grace... I get where you're coming from but at the same time we as a society are just enabling this behavior. You asked me what my occupation was and based off that, you decided I have to pay the fee because I can afford it.

IMO I was overcharged by this firm

I have known Paul Baertschi for nearly two decades. He practices with great professionalism and compassion. Paul is well regarded by his fellow attorneys as someone who is honest, diligent and always prepared. I routinely sit across from Paul as an adversary, I trust he will employ discretion when appropriate. I know Paul to have great skill as a prosecutor and I am positive he can use his extensive prosecutorial knowledge and experience to assist anyone charged with any crime.

Paul Baertschi is a man of the highest integrity. His expertise and knowledge in the law and judicial system are incomparable, and are great assets for his clients. I have complete confidence in Paul and his firm. He came highly recommended from a friend with very high standards. After working with Paul, I highly recommend him to friends, family and anyone seeking an attorney in his field.

When a problem arose in my extended family that I needed questions answered, the firm of Tallen and Baertschi stepped up and sat down on a Wednesday night to talk to our family. They listened to a very painful subject and asked meaningful questions. They provided excellent council and helped us contact the correct county workers in Hennepin County to help in our situation. I was represented by Tallen and Baertschi recently and I will make an attempt at relaying my experience as accurately as possible. I was recommended their business from a close confidante who I both respect and admire, so naturally I was inclined to expect reasonable representation. That being said, I still had many questions most of us face I think when seeking legal representation. Am I going to be represented fairly? Will these attorneys keep my interest at heart? Are these men going to fight for me? Being a young man with little to no experience in court of law and or the legal process, I found myself concerned and intimidated at the prospect of “my day in court”. But when I first met with Mr. Baertschi it quickly became clear to me that he had a deep understanding of current law, my anxiety was curbed. Not only did they explain the process thoroughly and honestly but being that they practice both sides of the law (prosecutors at times and defense attorneys at others) they had an intimate understanding of what I could expect. I hired them, at a reasonable price, great reputation, and the feeling that my wellbeing was the focus, how could I not? I was rewarded with representation that was far more than “reasonable”, it proved to be nothing short of stellar. From subpoenaing crucial evidence in my case, pouring over hours of said evidence, relaying their findings to me almost immediately at every turn. Finding critical pieces of information that I am sure many lawyers would have missed, leading to several breaks in my case, they truly went the extra mile I felt. They were incredibly patient with me throughout the entire process seeing as how much of this was new to me and dumbing down some of what was being said so that I could understand, assuring me of the facts to keep my mind from running wild. I have sought different legal representation in the past but I can honestly say I don’t think any other lawyer could have gotten me through this experience with as much peace of mind as the gentlemen at Tallen and Baertschi. Thank you for your representation. I will be sending any and all business I can your way in the future.

When one of my friends faced harassment charges, Paul met promptly with us (my friend asked me to participate) and carefully explained the range of possible responses and their costs.He later represented my nephew in a DUI, assuring his rights were protected through the conviction. He expresses genuine care for his client, not just winning the case in front of him.
