This law firm is garnishing paychecks for credit card debt that has passed the 5 year statute of limitations ( Iowa law). This credit card is from a prior marriage almost 15 years ago.

I paid my debt in November 2024. Got a letter in the mail in February 2025 talking about how I owe a debt. I called Gurstel to talk to a representative. He was less than helpful. I told him I paid it off in November. He said they haven’t received any funds and I still have to pay. I once again said I paid it in November. He said I should call the payroll company for my employer. I called them and they explained that yes I did in fact pay it but state law says the collection agency has to request payment. You would think a law firm would know the law??? What an absolute joke of a company. The “representative” would go silent when I asked a question and wouldn’t say anything for a minute, to the point I asked if he went on break or hung up on me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and of course there wasn’t one available. What a surprise.

This company has a lot of false information about me and as such took me to court. They then withdrew money from an account I had no actual ownership from and are now insisting I send them some personal information so their lawyers can decide if it is proof enough the money was not mine. At first they tried to say they couldn't speak with me because I was represented by another law firm, which I had no prior contact with. Very unprofessional and frustrating.

The worst kind of people. They'll spend thousands in legal fees to get a judgement, but refuse to communicate before hand, to work out a deal or payment arrangements. They've ignored every single call or email I've sent out the past year. They make threats and use shady methods to get judgements. They're the worst.

Andrew Wolf is a genuine waste of human space. I have never received any documents directly for an entire court precedence that I was not present for due to his competency in nefarious means of business. Now I am being garnished due to his under dealings with Capital One and their plan to financial ruin of my family. I look forward to our day in Court. These people are crooks and here to take from the poor and give to the rich for a price. #Trump2025 will fix you into the swamp you came from

Absolutely unprofessional!

Tried to negotiate a payment plan through them, my life circumstances changed greatly in the last few years so I had a credit card my ex husband stole and maxed out go into collections. They denied the payment plan after asking for bank and employment info. Luckily I didn’t give them up to date info because I think they lie about negotiating payments to get that info to garnish your wages before you go to court. Very shady business practices and they don’t actually care about people paying off their debt if they’re denying payment plans.

Had a debt with these guys and worked out a payment plan. Using a debit card does not work on their website, or on the phone, if you can even get ahold of them. My guess is that they do it this way on purpose, so they can move forward with issuing judgments as quick as possible. I tried to contact them many times about this with no response, until they eventually issued the judgment. My recommendation to anyone else in this scenario: file bankruptcy. It lasts about the same amount of time as a judgment, and you don't have to pay the debt. Congratulations Gurstel, you lost money buying my debt. If everyone did this they would go out of business. Do not let them push you around. Highly unethical company, even compared to other debt collectors

They drag you back and forth to court just to go mia when needing to make payments??? Getting ahold of someone is nearly impossible. How do you take people to court and then they have no way of actually paying off debts??

They don't even deserve one star. Nobody answers the phone or returns calls, yet they claim you never return their calls. Scammers.
