Mr. Berris represented me for two separate cases, the first time for a DWI defense and then a few years later for a driver license cancellation challenge. For the first offense, I was grateful for his expertise and negotiating a very favorable outcome on a guilty plea. What was almost an inevitable 60-day stay in the Plymouth work house, turned into a 90-day electronic home confinement and daily breath monitor… On the second charge, we effectively sued the State of Minnesota with a bench trial in my home town (I lived in a County seat) — and I testified for 50 minutes before Mr. Berris, a deputy State Attorney and a District Judge… Mr. Berris did such a great job in the proceedings, that a few weeks later the judge ruled to dismiss the charge and grant me immediate reinstatement of my driver license. Fifteen years (and no offenses!) later, I am writing this recommendation from Iowa just to give praise to the best attorney I’ve ever met in my life. Thank you so much Mr. Berris, if you ever read this and possibly remember these cases.

I recently used Marc Berris for a DWI case. He was really great. My last lawyer sent a different lawyer to court with me and had his legal assistant call me when I left messages for him. Marc did none of that. He handled every past of my case, was quick to return calls and reply to e-mails, and got me a much better outcome than I had expected. I had gotten Marc's name from a friend and was very glad that I did.

When I was arrested a close friend gave me Marc Berris' name. Though my friend had not used him personally, he had heard him speak when he was a student and remembered him several years later. I am glad he did. Marc was able to meet with me almost immediately, and we spent a lot of time talking about what had occurred and what could be done to make the situation better. Marc didn't pressure me to hire him, and I actually took the time to meet with two other lawyers. After doing so I knew that Marc was the right choice. One of the other lawyers actually gave me totally incorrect information, and the other was trying to rush me out the door almost the minute I got to his office. We made several court appearances and Marc checked in with me before each one. When he received all of the police reports he sent me a copy and then met with me to discuss the ways that they were accurate, the ways they weren't, and what our best course of action would be. At every step Marc made me feel like his only client, though I know I was far from it. When I left messages for Marc they were returned the very same day, every time, without exception. In the end, the outcome was better than I had expected. Marc even sent me a note to thank me for my business. I have sent a few people to Marc since then, and every single one has been as pleased with him as was I. Avvo's rating system only allows me to give him 5 stars in my rating, but if I could give him 500 I would!

I retained Marc to represent my adult son in a criminal matter. My son has battled depression and anxiety, and a lawyer who had represented him in the past showed absolutely no compassion for or patience with my son. Marc could not have been more different! He took the time to keep us advised on the status of the case, was willing to meet with my son far more times than was needed, and was able to obtain an outstanding outcome because he took the time to get to know my son and be in a position to give the prosecutor and the judge the background information they needed to see that what my son had done was more a manifestation of his illness than it was a conscious desire to be a criminal. This would have never happened had it not been for Marc's stellar representation. We will very happily give Marc's name to anyone we know who could use his help.
