Chris Banas at Banas Family Law has represented me on my child custody case for almost 7 years . The entire office has been an absolute joy to work with . They always stay in contact and keep me up to date on any developments in our case . This law firm met or exceeded everyone of my expectations . The best part of being involved with Banas Family Law is the fact that from the first contact with them they made me feel as if I were a part of the family . The genuine concern of this law firm for the well being of my son sets them apart from any other firm I have ever been involved with . I would highly recommend them to anybody that seeks the absolute best legal representation from a law firm that sustains a personal relationship with their clients.

Thank you Chris for your perseverance and quality representation! Divorce is a terrible experience, but you helped me at every phase, watching out for my best interests. You were prepared, thorough, and prepared me well in advance of all the hearings and trial. You were aggressive when i needed to be and kept me calm when things got tough. I'm glad this is over, and could not have gotten here without you and your staff's help. Thank you again! Cheers!

As many people would agree if you win a case your lawyer is great. If you lose a case your lawyer is to blame. In my family court case with Chris I lost. My events and judgment of Chris are purely based on experience with my court case. I researched Chris before I met with him for the first time so I knew his record. In the beginning of my case Chris was battling an aggressive attorney who did not specialize in family law. As Chris put it, that attorney threw everything at the wall to see what could stick. During my three years in my family court case Chris stood by me and worked tirelessly on my case. He knows family law very well and continues to update himself and his entire staff constantly with new laws. I really liked this about Chris and his firm.
The weakness I see in Chris is his fight, urgency, and creativity in my family court case. As I stated earlier Chris was battling an aggressive lawyer. I had an OFP filed against me in the beginning that was dropped because of no evidence of physical or mental abuse. Chris should have fought to have the court put an end to legal harassment and ask that no other charges be brought forward, however, opposing counsel knowing there was no evidence dropped the OFP one day before the court trail and Chris thought that was good enough. The day after the OPF was dropped in trial the aggressive attorney filed a 68 page family court motion against me, to which I stated earlier throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. During my case the opposing attorney asked for a Guardian ad Litem, which Chris and I said we did not want; we wanted an evaluator which would cost more money but last only one month. However, Chris lost this request to the judge and attorney. The longer a trial goes the more money you spend. The GAL took over a year to come to a conclusion that no evidence of physical or mental abuse occurred between any parent of the children. However, she recommended that sole legal mental, physical, and dental rights be given to the mother. The GAL was breaking the law with her recommendation. Chris advised me during this time not speak with the GAL, unless she requested to speak with me. This was very bad advice from Chris because the GAL and the children's mother were speaking weekly for an entire year. Chris then had me hire another GAL evaluator to counter the original GAL's recommendation. The cost was a lot and resulted in no change in the judges decision to proceed with the GAL's recommendation.
Trial: I was put on the stand first and the opposing attorney asked many questions that were hearsay and Chris could not object or did not want to object. After 4 days on the stand I was battered and bruised. It was now time for Chris to take a stand for me, but it never came. He said it was not his style. When Chris asked questions he had a rough outline and a few points to nail on, but that quickly unraveled when the opposing attorney objected, and it didn't help when the judge even stopped Chris in mid-sentence. We had one pieces of evidence, a picture, to show the judge. Chris printed off a black and white picture that no one could recognize what was on it. The opposing attorney asked if I had taken the picture and when, then implied I abused my child and took the picture. Chris could not respond or defend from his questions. The next piece of evidence was two separate police body videos and police testimony that the mother was accusing me of abuse. The police testified there was no abuse and their body cameras proved it. However, Chris showed the court room the same video twice. A very costly mistake because the judge only saw one video and even commented that the children should have been interviewed by the police in a separate room without me present; that was the second video that Chris never showed in the court room.
My case cost me money, but that is expected. What is more important is it cost me my legal rights with my children. My recommendation for anyone reading this is to find another attorney if you know your opposing attorney is very aggressive.

Good Lawyers are hard to find. Thankfully, we found some good one's at the Banas Law Firm. Chris and Lisa are like a powerful 1-2 punch, like the Dynamic dual of family Law. They represented the interests of our family against a formidable and powerful Hennepin county and proved our case and came out victorious. Working with them have shown how having a great legal team, that knows family law, can expose the weaknesses in an unjust Child Welfare System.
Throughout the process, they remained polite, professional, and always caring about their clients. Tending to our needs and giving good advice. Trusting them and their strategy, positioned us to win this fight. During trial, I can remember as Chris was questioning the witnesses, I can tell that he had done the research needed, and he already knew the answer to his question. He wanted them to answer the question, as they did incorrectly, exposing their illegal practices.
THIS IS A WINNING TEAM!!
Thank you Lisa and Chris,
Darlene and Curtis

Unfortunately I was recommended here from another prominent local attorney. I tried setting up a consultation multiple times over the course of two weeks with no success. I would call to ask to speak to an attorney and they would tell me that they weren’t available, which is completely understandable. The issue was that I was told I’d have a call back and I never received one. I’d even be told I would have a call back the SAME day, again it never happened. I cannot tell you how many hours I wasted on waiting by my phone for a call back. Finally the last straw was today. I wasn’t having success doing it “their” way so I took it into my own hands and set up an appointment for 10am this morning. Their attorney no showed, no call, nothing. No apology, nothing. It’s incredibly frustrating when you have something as sensitive as a custody case and an attorney could care less about wasting two weeks of your time.

Chris Banas has helped me several times and each time has remained professional, honest and upfront.
Chris does his best to alleviate my concerns and addressed my issues at all times. Regardless of how many times I had to have Chris represent me, he always made me feel my case was his first priority. I cannot thank Chris and his team enough.

I had the opportunity to work with both Lisa and Chris over the course of a long case, involving a former foster family's motion for adoptive placement (it was a highly contested case, as well).
Lisa and Chris were excellent from start to finish. Their attention to detail was second to none and they were both meaningfully engaged from start to finish. Perhaps of greatest value and impact, was the fact that Chris and Lisa were energized about doing right by children at the heart of the matter - children who, for years, suffered at the hands of the convoluted, bureaucratic mess that the child welfare system is.
Chris and Lisa say it like it is and cut right to the chase. I often tell people: "Stick with the winners." Chris and Lisa are winners and I highly recommend their services.
