I have known Kim Benjamin for several years as a colleague. I am the Course Director for a series of courses designed to train lawyers in how to present complicated scientific cases to juries. "My attorney here, Laura O'Sullivan, has done nothing I've asked her to do. Even after almost 7 months in jail and multiple requests, she has not even brought me my discovery. She has been unwilling to bring to light the many civil rights violations happening inside the jail. She (as well as everyone else in the firm) refuses to communicate with me or my DPOA or return phone calls. Even the case manager (who never answers her phone either) has had a full voicemail box for over two weeks. In order for me to get any messages to my attorney, I am forced to send them over recorded communications with my DPOA for her to write them down and physically take them to the attorney's office to be delivered to the attorney by a receptionist because she can't ever get ahold of anyone other than a receptionist. None of this would be an issue if my attorney would just communicate with me, but I rarely see her. When their services were obtained, the price was set at $15k, which was paid in full, up front. Now they want another $30k to represent me in trial. None of the additional monetary charges past the original $15k were ever previously discussed and I feel like I was mislead. Even the attorneys of other inmates have said how badly this case has been mishandled by my attorney. I have no idea how this firm has so many good reviews because I've paid $15k for what I feel is less than public defender level representation when I was lead to believe there was a law team working on every case, not just one attorney who I would no longer even trust with a traffic ticket, no less my potential felony case. Every one of my concerns were presented all the way up the chain of command, and none of them have been addressed and certainly not resolved. I would say to steer clear of these guys because, it seems to me, they just want money and then do nothing to have earned it. If these guys get things done from this point forward, I will definitely change this review, but as of right now, as a current client, I am not happy." **update** Nothing changed, more of the same. After 8 months of asking for one continuance after another, ended up in prison after taking an open plea on the attorney's advice.

Kim and her team are the real deal. They are the lawyers that help other lawyers with DUI cases in Kansas City. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone facing criminal charges.
