Chris enabled us to navigate a dispute with our HOA involving legal contracts and verbal agreements that bordered on abuse. As an attorney, I understand how important it is to have quality representation when you enter a legal battle. I practice criminal defense and family law so when I started planning to rezone a couple of properties, I knew I would be better served bringing in someone experienced in the field. I met Chris in law school at MU. At the start of the process, I called him in and he met or exceeded every benchmark of professionalism that I expect and provide to my clients. Chris has multi-decade experience in city planning, mapping, and zoning. He spoke the same language as the city staff. When it was apparent that I needed a development plan as opposed to speculative zoning, Chris stepped up and put together an impressive preliminary development plan. He even snuck some humor in by giving the payment project the working title of Nolanville, the name of a notorious speed trap in Texas from when we both served in the Army. We went before the city planning and zoning commission. We made a great presentation and they voted 7-2 against my request. I discussed it with Chris and we considered the options of stopping or continuing with the city council hearing. On review we were able to find no justifiable reason for the rejection. So we went to the City Council. Again, Chris's presentation was awesome. His preparation was top-notch. And we won a reversal of the planning and zoning decision with city council approval over the rejection. That rarely happens. But I attribute it solely to my wisdom in bringing in the right attorney at the right time and letting Chris shine. One question I was asked - by my wife - why would an attorney hire an attorney. It is a great question. Because an attorney puts a buffer between you and the other side. Because the right attorney makes all the difference in the world. Because I've seen the results when people represent themselves. I would hire Chris again or refer business to him in a heartbeat.

Mr. Dunn is a knowledgeable resource when it comes to understanding and applying the growing importance of law and legal ethics as it applies to geospatial technology, particularly representations of property and easements in geographic information systems (GIS) and how open records and sunshine laws apply to spatial data.

Mr. Dunn had recently assisted me with a legal matter with the City of Hope, KS. After I had purchased chickens for eggs, I was informed by the City, by certified mail, that I was not allowed by law to have said chickens and that I would be penalized if I had kept them. I had reviewed the City ordinance, which plainly stated that chickens were legal in Hope. Under Mr. Dunns advice, I attended a city meeting and stated my case, but I was shot down. After that, Mr. Dunn took matters into his own hands and made contact with the City, the city's lawyer, and many other people. Very soon after the City notified me by mail that they had rescinded their threat and that I was allowed to keep my chickens. I am forever thankful to Mr. Dunn and his fantastic work!

Chris was a consultant on a case and was wonderful to talk to and took time out of his afternoon, after work even to talk and explain some details about a case that was somewhat floundering. He was very honest and candid about what to expect and what things to change. and also what not to do. I would definitely recommend him, and one of the best things (to me atleast) is if he isn't the right man for the job he will help you find the right person.
