Reidar Hammond is a nice enough guy, but an extremely incompetent and inept attorney. He had me plead guilty for a DWI charge without first thoroughly explaining the collateral consequences of pleading guilty. One might think that the collateral consequences should be apparent, but when facing the stress of something like a DWI, not all the senses are perfectly calibrated. While I cannot prove my suspicions, I believe that there is a collusion between the Green County Prosecutor's office and the bulk of the attorneys in Springfield. Most of the attorneys in Springfield charge roughly the same amount for DWI cases ($1800-$3000). The expenses charged is quick pocket money for the defending attorney, and simultaneously a quick win for the prosector's office without any impediment. This might be something for the Missouri Bar Association to look into.
