Leavitt Law Firm has made my case very smooth and helped me in time of need, their staff is amazing very profesional, knowledgeable. I want to thank Loammi, Dennis and Leslie for kindness and attention to detail. I highly recommend Leavitt Law Firm.

I want to emphasize that this review is not from a client who was denied custody. I was awarded custody, but this outcome was not due to the diligence of this law firm. It was solely based on my decision to ask the court to speak with my child, whose preference influenced the judge's decision. Initial Consultation: Like many, I researched the best child custody lawyers due to issues with my child's mother. I felt I needed legal representation to protect my relationship with my child and prevent ongoing parental alienation. After a week of research and several consultations, I chose Leavitt Law Firm on 1/20/2023 for a consultation with Dennis Leavitt. Despite being asked to arrive early, I was made to wait over 50 minutes past my appointment time with no check-ins or apologies. This was highly unprofessional and should have been a warning sign, but I overlooked it due to my urgent situation. Engagement and Retainer: On 1/23/2023, I hired Dennis, paying an $8000 retainer in full. I was informed that although Dennis would represent me, other firm members might also work on my case, with rates ranging from $500/hr for Dennis to $150/hr for legal assistants. Case Management: On 2/1/2023, I received stamped copies of my custody complaint. By 3/7/2023, I reached out for an update, only to find out the initial paralegal was no longer with the firm. The new paralegal seemed unfamiliar with my case and asked basic questions like "Does the child live with you?"—information they should have known. On 3/8/2023, I was asked to provide a summary of my case, which I had already done. This redundancy added unnecessary costs. I then received an “Affidavit of Attempted Service” indicating my child's mother was evading service. Despite disclosing upfront that she was out of state, the firm failed to handle this efficiently, further draining my retainer. By 6/9, the firm finally got an Order for Alternative Service signed by the judge. On 7/5, after serving my child's mother via email and social media, I received a “Notice of Appearance” from opposing counsel. Throughout this process, the opposing counsel was clearly more proactive, even filing an emergency order of custody. By 7/26, I had paid $15,500 and received little progress. The firm's lack of communication and continuous errors in my documents, including misspellings of my name, made me feel unsupported and like a number rather than a client as I express to Mr. Leavitt in a later in person meeting. Hearing and Trial: On 8/14, the hearing date, Dennis did not represent me. Instead, I had a lawyer who knew nothing about my case, resulting in me being ordered to pay $5,000 in lawyer fees to the opposing counsel. My daughter lived with me, I had been providing support, and I paid for my lawyer while caring for a family of six. The substitute lawyer's lack of knowledge about my income, which includes substantial but not guaranteed commissions, led to that judgment. With the trial set for November, I had paid $15,500 to the lawfirm and $5000 lawyers fees for daughters mother bringing total to $20,500 out of pocket. The lack of support and communication from the firm led me to request a meeting with Dennis, which I was not charged. During trial prep, it was evident that neither Dennis nor the paralegal knew my case well. I had to rely on my child's testimony to ensure the judge made an informed decision. Seven days before the trial, I was billed $6,446.77 and asked to add $8,000 to my retainer. This last-minute demand, totaling $14,446.77, was reduced to $10,000 if paid promptly. This brought my total paid to $25,500. Outcome: I was granted custody because my child wanted to stay with me, but I was still ordered to pay $10,000 back child support "Negotiated down from $60K" by Mr. Leavitt, bringing my total out-of-pocket cost to $40,500 all together. Conclusion: The biggest win is my continued relationship with my daughter. However I would not recommend this firm! Take your hard earned money to someone who will remember your name as a client. Especially if you’re paying them $20k+!

Dennis is great to work with! He has helped my wife and my father. I never have any issue! He is very personable and respectful. You don't find attorney like him in this town! I will not see anyone else but Dennis! High recommended!

This firm is beyond amazing. After consulting with many attorneys I’m glad I found this firm. Benjamin Leavitt is an amazing human being. He has listened to me. I felt like everyone here cares. Going through a custody case and the most stressful time in my life was hard enough but to have someone that understands the law and can advocate for you is rare. If you want someone that cares for you, this is your firm. Leslie, Molly and Benjamin are very knowledgeable and genuine people that really have a passion on helping people.
