Receiving a FINRA inquiry letter was one of the most unsettling moments of my life. Having been in the securities business for over 20 years, I never thought it would happen to me. My first instinct was to be cheap and respond on my own. I’m so glad I decided to discuss with an attorney before responding. I had phone consultations with a variety of attorneys in different states and decided to retain Mr. Burns. He was quick to respond to my inquiries and was very knowledgeable and organized. My case was extremely complicated involving several contracts and agreements, and had many , many details. I had an employment dispute regarding a "non-compete" clause after leaving my Wall Street firm, and while several attorneys with whom I corresponded before meeting Brent showed little interest in taking the case, Brent hopped on it right away and did a terrific job negotiating a settlement for me from what was arguably a tough position. He handled the case "on the clock" (i.e., not on a contingency basis) and I was extremely pleased with his fairness in "hours billed;" unfortunately, lawyers in general have a reputation for padding this figure but with Brent I can unequivocally say that, if anything, he leaned very much towards the conservative side with his billing hours. I subsequently recommended him to a friend who needed an attorney for a different sort of case, and would be happy to heartily recommend him again in the future.
