*Update*
I would like to clarify a few things. My review was not in anyway about the time or money it took to get our case reopened and got us an approved waiver. The negligence on the case between July 2019 and Dec. 2019 they didn’t respond to the National Visa Center and our case was closed. Dec. 10th we made an appt to Maria and Andres to how we could fix the case. Andres was not there so we asked for a complete copy of our file. We made a 2nd appt to speak with Andres and Maria. Again we were denied a meeting with Andres. So we left and it was another day wasted. The office scheduled another appt to which we had told them we would not be going because it would be another wasted day and income loss.
From our first encounter with Mr. Mejer, we felt very comfortable,he was pleasant and reassuring. It gave my family an impression that he would take great care of our case. Mr. Mejer even told us a story about how his parents were they taken advantage of by a lawyer in the 80’s, how that hardship inspired him to become a immigration lawyer to help others. They took care of us with open arms. There was a waiver that needed to be filed and after that everything would fine. They communicated with us every step of the way. I can’t complain about how our case was handled in the beginning. Once we received our waiver approval in April 2019 we met with Maria so we could sign paperwork that needed to be processed so the appointment in Juarez could take in effect. Suddenly everything changed, there was a lack of communication. The front desk would not relay our messages nor would Maria call us back but there was definitely a lack of answers on their part. In July we received a letter from immigration regarding our case referring that we needed to file a continuation with our case or it would be terminated We continued calling the office with the hope that it was not canceled and the receptionist at the time Octávio said that Maria would return our call, which never happened. In the meantime we placed call after call at least twice a week but the receptionist Roberto now, would not communicate to either Maria or Andrés about our issue. Multiple attempts of reaching out between July and October were disheartening, until finally in November we were able to speak with Maria. She then set up an appointment with us and admitted that she did not file our paperwork that had come in because of a family matter that took her away for the most of July. Questions about the case had fallen short of answers no appropriate response would lead us to believe that what has happened was ok. She reassured us again that she would like to finish our case off because she liked completing cases. At this point we were very weary of continuing our case with this practice. We agreed on continuing the case with the condition that she would have more open communication with us. The hectic schedule of our lives would be placed on pause at times. For us that meant stopping our son’s therapy sessions because of an unreturned calls with a simple question. After establishing that proper communication with be held to a higher extent. The paperwork sent in was it taken care of? For six months that question went unanswered, six months of our lives were put on hold, six months of our lives that we will not get back. We put our trust and more importantly our case in the hands of people we thought were honest and trusted. Instead we felt lost confused and no one in that office seemed to be accountable for what happened, it seemed as if no one could take responsibility for the paperwork not being done. While I have no exact person to blame I feel as though my case fell between the cracks and no one seem to care. I truly believe there is no excuse. When you put your money as well as trust into someone for something this important to have them not follow thru is upsetting and disheartening. I am not writing this to ruin their reputation or tear them down. I am writing this as a warning to not be as trusting as we were and to keep following up.
