I can say, with great confidence, that Barbara Cowen has been one of the most knowledgeable, and personable lawyers that I have encountered. Barbara possesses some rare qualities. She has a deep understanding of matrimonial law, in addition to a business acumen. In my experience, these two attributes went a long way in structuring a settlement. Mrs Cowen took my case of employment equity while her expertise is on family law promising that Mrs Jacobs will be overseeing and helping with the case. Her lack of knowledge and expertise in the area cost me a lot of delay. She did not know what she was doing. She was consulting with a cousin who was working at the same institution that I was trying to sue. This constituted a conflict of interest, but she still did not mind and continued to waste my money on hours of conference calls with this "expert cousin". And when my case got more difficult and she could not figure out what to do next she quit on me in the middle of it . She shouldn't have initially taken my case and my money if she didn't have the necessary expertise to handle it.
