I choose to hire Ms Gilbert after meeting with 8 other lawyers. I choose her because of her patience and approach to the issue with compassion. She didn’t drag anything to make her hours, a rare find. She approached the matter very professionally for a quick amicable conclusion. I hope no one should need a divorce lawyer but if you do need one she is the right person to go to.

I hired Kathy as my defense attorney to represent me in the divorce case and it was a very professional, honest and collaborative experience. Based on the excellent reviews for Kathy on avvo, I took an appointment with her assistant and walked into her office in a confused state of mind as I was not sure how to approach the divorce notice served to me by my spouse’s attorney. I had a million questions in my mind and was struggling to frame them as I was going through a traumatic experience. Kathy made me comfortable by asking few questions to understand my case and soon I realize that I got thought partner who I can work with during the divorce process. I have listed some of the professional strengths of Kathy below that I had experienced firsthand during the process - (1) Communication – During the entire process, Kathy was very clear with both her written and verbal communications with me. I got the ‘so what’ of the message based on our discussions quickly and was very clear in terms of what is expected out of me during the process. Kathy was reachable during the entire process through email or phone. She was quick to respond to my emails that helped me clear the confusions or open questions that I had quite quickly. (2) Legal expertise – Kathy has several years of experience of handling divorce and separation cases which was hugely helpful for my case as I was able to agree with my spouse on the parenting plan in short span of time. Kathy’s financial expertise helped answers a lot of questions that I had on my finances going forward. Kathy negotiated with my spouse attorney to come up with the right and balanced arrangement which was expectable to both the parties which was signed into the contract immediately. (3) Pro-active/advance thinking – Kathy was very pro-active in setting up my expectations on what lies ahead which gave me sufficient time to prepare the artifacts required for the process. I started collecting discovery items well in advance before my spouse attorney officially asked for them and was prepared to deliver them on short notice so that I can get the process completed as soon as possible. (4) Always has your best interest in mind – While my case took a turn in the middle where my spouse decided to withdraw the divorce petition at the last minute, Kathy helped drafted a mid-marriage agreement between us. Mid-marriage agreement’s core focus was to come up to come up with a household budget as the disagreement on finances during the marriage was the root cause of the divorce at the first place. She negotiated the terms of this agreement very effectively with my spouse lawyer which both parties were able to sign within a short span of time. It was a pleasure working with Kathy throughout my divorce process. I am glad that the process ended with a mid-marriage agreement as I still have complete access to my kids. My spouse and I are trying to give our marriage a second chance. I would recommend Kathy to anyone without a second thought.
