I had a challenging experience working with David Torchin in the past, who was our court-appointed Parent Coordinator. Mr. Torchin was assigned to help my ex-wife and I resolve disputes regarding the upbringing of our children. Unfortunately, he canceled our meetings on short notice multiple times and even double-booked our initial appointment, leaving us waiting in his in his waiting room for some time before informing us we needed to reschedule, as his other client took priority. During our sessions, I found Mr. Torchin to be unprofessional. He frequently resorted to personal insults and attempted to intimidate me when I disagreed with him. Rather than working towards a compromise, he often tried to impose his opinions and would often resort to bullying tactics. We then attended mediation with a different professional to help resolve some of these very same issues that Mr. Torchin was incapable of effectively addressing. The assigned mediator offered common-sense solutions that were "in the children's best interests." When confronted about his effectiveness in addressing our concerns, Mr. Torchin responded, "I never, in addressing the issue, imparted my opinion as to what was best for the children. Ultimately, when the parties could not agree, I left the decision to the discretion of the parent who had custody on that particular day." He also noted, "There is a difference in the style of mediation used by <Mediator Name>, which I do employ when retained as a mediator, and the style of mediation I use when retained as a Parent Coordinator". His main focus seemed to be on maximizing billing rather than providing the best solutions. I recall one instance where, after being informed that "David is on vacation overseas," I discovered that many of his clients, including myself, were billed for "Telephone/International Calls" line item charge on the next invoice — as if his substantial hourly fee wasn't enough. Given these experiences, it became clear that Mr. Torchin’s services as a Parent Coordinator were ineffective in facilitating resolutions that were truly in the best interests of our children. For those in need of a family law attorney or Parent Coordinator with a calm demeanor, I would advise looking beyond David Torchin. I hope Mr. Torchin will not respond to me with insults, but instead will use my feedback as an opportunity to improve his services for future clients, as it was intended.

Mr. Torchin was appointed in my case, he is not the first PC to have been appointed in the case that has sadly continued for years. However, he is the first PC to genuinely care for my daughter's needs, and listen to her voice. Mr. Torchin provides sound recommendations that are child focused. Mr. Torchin is professional with the parents, and empathetic with the children. Mr. Torchin is not only an asset to family court, but also to the legal community.

David was fierce yet compassionate in handling my case. Besides, I admired his timely responses on either questions from me or my ex's attorney. David kept me posted on what's next in my case, reviewed legal clauses with me, summarized my thoughts clearly on drafts and finals. My case was complex and I was glad I picked David to represent.

David Torchin was able to guide me through a very difficult divorce and custody battle. Throughout a multi-year divorce process, David was always available to answer questions and ensure that I understood what my rights were and how to enforce them. David is extremely knowledgeable in divorce law and is able to navigate a myriad of financial and custody issues. He brings his experience to bear in resolving difficult issues and is a skillful negotiator. David has a great sense of humor which really helps keep the stress in check, and he is a genuinely kind and caring person. I am reminded of David’s help at every family holiday and event that I spend with my children, and I highly recommend him.

I could not imagine a better family attorney than David Torchin. David is an excellent communicator who is extremely well versed in the rules and minutiae of family law. I am impressed by how well David understood the details and circumstances of our family situation - he never forgets anything. His skill with financials are impeccable. David was always available for questions and to assist with difficult decisions. He frequently took the edge off of stressful situations with his excellent humor and even-tempered approach. David would advise mediation and cooperation first, and tried to resolve my many issues to avoid lengthy and costly litigation. In the courtroom, David is extremely well prepared and presents his arguments calmly and factually – an approach that was obviously appreciated by the Court. I could not ask for a better attorney to guide me through what was a very difficult and contentious divorce. By following David’s example, I took a calmer and more positive approach to resolving divorce issues. David is the attorney you want by your side when the well-being of your family is your first and highest priority. I am forever grateful for David’s assistance.

David is an excellent attorney. He has a broad range of experience, and is adept at foreseeing events and predicting potential issues. He brings the same level of diligence to every aspect of the matter. Perhaps most important is that he is affable, reassuring, funny, and kind.

David made a very difficult time in my life a much easier process. He was thorough, sensitive to my feelings, and very prompt to get back to me when contacting him. He made sure that my settlement contained everything that I needed and was very helpful in discussing with me all of my options. He did an excellent job in educating me of all my rights and made sure that when the process was all done I was left standing on my own two feet. David is an excellent attorney. He was always available when I needed to talk and was an excellent communicator. He was easy to speak to and discuss all related details which is necessary during this difficult process. He is very experienced and obviously well liked and respected by others in the field. Even the judge commented that he was a good choice. His combination as a mediator is evident in his style and care. He was fair and honest and seemed to always remain calm. My case was fairly complicated and he was on top of the details and able to analyze all aspects and come up with various options. Overall I was very pleased and would highly recommend him.
