I hired Chioma for a divorce from someone who is an immigrant in the US. She specializes in both family and immigration law. From start to finish the whole process was less than 10 months. I had my doubts and anxiety throughout the process, but whenever I spoke with Chioma, she calmed my nerves and grounded me. Considering the experience that is to follow, I strongly discourage anyone from retaining Chioma. I hired Chioma to represent me as a tenant in a tenant/landlord matter. Ultimately, the landlord agreed to make the necessary repairs and a settlement agreement was reached. I temporarily relocated in a hotel and awaited for the repairs to be carried out. After realizing that the landlord had absolutely no intentions in making the promised/agreed upon repairs, I quickly notified Chioma of what was happening. She told me that she would reach out to the landlord and also advised me that she would have to file paperwork with the court in the event that he did not reply. Somewhere along the line, Chioma became unresponsive. Given the circumstances, I attempted to obtain another attorney. In the process of providing details to prospective attorneys, it was point it out that Chioma never included a stipulation about any consequences if the landlord failed to carry out the repairs within the promised one month in the settlement agreement. I have spent months trying to retain a new attorney. On June 5th, 2023 I reached out to Chioma and said the following: Good afternoon, Chioma. I am currently in the process of obtaining a new lawyer, and the common question that I have been asked is if you have filed anything with the court ? Thank you She responded with the following: The only thing my firm did was address the landlord tenant matter. I could not believe her carelessness. This is especially true when she knows that I have been staying in a hotel with nowhere else to go. I have been staying in hotel for 9 months now. My neighbor just told me that she saw a truck loading all of my things out of the apartment. I am going to try my best to get through everything as they are happening and in the event that I could legally go after Chioma I will.
