I hired this office for a very simple case regarding visitation and child support. I was told multiple times that the ease of the case would not allot for more money than the amount of my retainer agreement and that I would get a refund. I paid the retainer agreement in full. I supplied the supporting documentation including requesting previous records myself, weeks before the case. Somehow they still only filed my counter application a day before my court date. Court was ok, although I felt it could have been much shorter however the attorney didn’t do anything to stop the other party from rambling on and on. After court I received an email stating I’d hear from the legal assistant regarding my refund. Instead I received a bill for $2,000 extra dollars. I looked through the itemization, shocked but accepting I am no expert. The billed items charged hundreds of dollars for my inquiry with the office (before I even decided about being represented), phone calls that were only few minutes long where I was charged an hour or more (I matched to my phone records), emails that didn’t ever happen, record requests where I had supplied the records myself, and several other items that were entirely made up. I disputed the charges, providing my own records (like my phone bill and email record that in no way could have been fabricated), and was told that I didn’t understand how things worked. I offered to compromise and started doing my own research. It turned out this is a repeat issue with this office and now I have to file a formal dispute that will end up with me in court/mediation again. Be careful- I guarantee you’ll be overcharged if they think you can pay it.

Paula Menar is a very caring and very intelligent attorney. My case was very complex and Paula showed great caring and compassion through the process. Paula Menar was incredible! I had a temporary restraining order and the judge advised me to seek counsel when my ex asked for an extension to get a lawyer. Paula was referred to me by a friend. She was an absolute shark in the courtroom! My ex is a very charismatic person and a pathological liar. Like most pathological liars he is very convincing. So many times before when I tried to bring up things that he had done no one believed me. Paula caught him in lie after lie. She was so skillful at what she does that not only did she catch him in his lies she had him admit to the lies without him even realizing what he was doing! He was revealed for the controlling, abusive, narcissist that he is. The things I had to talk about were painful and embarrassing but Paula helped me through my time on the stand with a great amount of compassion while remaining professional. That is a hard balance to achieve but she nailed it. My final restraining order was granted. My life in the past 10 months since our court date has improved beyond belief. I’m not getting texts every 30 seconds. I’m not waking up to find him in my house even though the doors were locked. I have had no communication from him whatsoever. I never imagined life could be this peaceful, this joyful, this stress-free. I don’t think I could have gotten to this point without Paula as my lawyer in the courtroom. She helped change my life for the better. I strongly recommend Menar & Menar.

Paula represented me in my divorce case. In the beginning, I had hired another attorney as he made me believe that the divorce case in NJ is very simple. After dealing with him and coming to know the judiciary system, I realized that most of attorneys here are clueless when the case goes to trial. Most of the attorney are just to forward the documents back and forth and have you sign it, they hope that both the parties agree and case is closed. However Paula is the best, she is an all-rounder that can maneuver the case in either situation. She will try her best to get the case settle before going to trial in your favor, at the same time, she is fearless to make the case in trial room too. I was involved in the fraudulent marriage situation that was complicated, involving false domestic violence and other aspect of the divorce and she delivered it for me. She is the best!

Paula represented me over 10 years ago and a visitation matter. At the time I was a young mother who was scared confused abused manipulated and intimidated at the hands of an abusive spouse.
