First - know Lyons’ firm charges by 0.2/hr versus the normal 0.1/hr. So say she’s $575/hour — a one-line email that’s 30 secs to read & a 20 min phone call cost the same ~ $114. And raises hourly rates WHILE you still have $ from initial retainer. Apparently she “can,” but most just don’t. Especially in FAMILY LAW! Reviews I just read here describing Terry drawing you in with “charm,” TRUE. With reassurances that you are already and will be her absolute priority and then…didn’t even remember impt details of my case. And yes, my case was pawned off to brand new associate too, to save ME money. Knowing I’m a disabled, single mom who’d been bankrupted by lawyer fees to fight false allegations (as in hundreds of thousands) by children’s father, and referred to by her respected peer, when I saw the invoice charging me over $250 for the time I called just to ecstatically let her know EVERYTHING was dismissed, I felt nauseous. That’s repugnant. As the firm’s owner, I believe that’s her choice. Then, in the middle of what she said was “near the end,” she actually demanded my balance in full, saying not another word would be written on my behalf until fully paid. Pretty sure that’s not or is not fully legal, but what? Sue my lawyer who I need to finish an order? I had to BEG several times for huge (for me) lump sums then monthly payments that are the same as my rent (I had to move as a result). STILL paying off, but guess what hasn’t changed? My family court case for which she was retained.
Probably redundant, but I do not recommend.

Talked with Terry in first meeting, who I thought was great, then was assigned to an associate. She was the worst. Spent more time on the billing, or should I say overbilling then she did my actual case. For one sentence emails I would be charge a half hour. I had to learn more about the law because she was so incompetent. The missed over 100k in hidden assets, all because the would not file a subpoena like I requested. Everything was terrible, communication, the way they handled thing. I understand that Terry didn't handle my case, but when you name is on the door, your ultimately responsible.

Ms Terry worked hard for my divorce case with my difficult ex, she did her homework in presenting information to the court, she was compassionate and all my expectations were met. I am very happy with the quality of her work.

I was fortunate enough to have found such an outstanding attorney in Terry. When I first met her, I will never forget the sign that hung in her office. It read, "Faith makes things possible.... not easy." For whatever reason that simple message had an impact on me and I knew in my gut she was the attorney for me. Terry, was up front and straightforward with me from the very beginning and has never waivered in her commitment. She is compassionate, understanding, extremely knowledgeable (she can quote and reference a law, statute, or rule down to the exact number), and has the wisdom of an old soul when it comes to human behavior. She possesses all of those wonderful characteristics with humor, lightheartedness, and just an all around good nature about herself. She took on my case with a confidence, determination, and tenacity that was contagious even for me and I had very little confidence in the beginning. I had a very emotionally driven case where the facts of the case were irrelevant to my opponent. Yet, Terry stayed focused and did not allow tactics or technicalities to knock her off course. She went above and beyond in her capacity to ensure that I was represented with not just herself but with an amazing support staff she has in her office. I call the people in her office " the family" because they all look out for each other and their clients. Also, Terry is brilliant in the courtroom. I've watched a ton of Law and Order and Terry just commands a courtroom. The mastery and delivery she displays when litigating is astonishing. She is must see TV in the courtroom!
Terry, I will be eternally grateful to you for what you have done for me and my son. You gave me the gift of legal parenthood. You are truly a blessing and a gift to the legal profession.

I can't say enough about Ms. Lyons. But, first, allow me to let you know a little bit of who I am and the battles I had been going through. I earned MBA and MS degree from the reputable school. I filed a divorce complaint more than 10 years ago (represented by a self-claiming best attorney in NJ with celebrities banging the door begging to hire him). It turned out to be the worst experience I had. I then retained other matrimonial attorneys before Ms. Lyons. Ms. Lyons was highly recommended by my Attorney friend. I was first skeptical, so I interviewed more than 5 attorneys before I met with Ms. Lyon (I was about to retain one of the 5). My friend told me to hold until I met with Ms. Lyon (I actually pull out each attorney's records from Lexis and studies the cases they had done before). I signed the retainer right after I met with Ms. Lyons. She fought hard for my case. She is not only brilliant, fast, clear but persuasive (consider this from a client who had been represented by top attorneys representing celebrities). Ms. Lyons fought with heart and truly have your best interest in mind (to obtain the best result possible and put the nightmare to an end). Before seeing Ms. Lyons at Court, I truly don't believe there will be a matrimonial attorney with your best interest in heart. After all, divorce couple is just cases for matrimonial attorneys. Though the results will be your and your children live, you are just a case to them. The longer you fight, the more they can be paid (speaking conflict of interests). I have been dealing with divorce court for more than 10 years with dozens of motions and threatening from my ex to put me in jail. It's Ms. Lyons she let me see the end of it and is truly capable and willing to put this to an end. If you are struggling with divorce matters, you will be doing yourself/children a huge favor by seeing Ms. Lyons.

Draws you in with her charm and confidence at first meeting. Overcharges, and once you’re locked in with the retainer, she couldn’t care less. Had to pay for the mistakes that her secretary kept making on my documents that I pointed out by the way. Pawned off to her cheapest associate ( probably just out of law school) with the assurance that she would read and oversee everything he was doing. Well, her firm screwed me over royally with their carelessness and lack of concern for myself and my children. I’m in significant debt, renting with my children while my ex lives in the marital home. In debt thousands to Theresa Lyons and the IRS (due to taxes on alimony). My ex is the bread winner, yet I have to pay all expenses upfront, can only claim one of my kids as a dependent.....and on and on. This firm left me and my children in a terrible way financially. When I ran out of money, they dropped me like a hot potato. DON’T USE THIS FIRM! HEARTLESS AND SELF SERVING. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MAKING MONEY!!

Paid several thousands in retainer, her associates wrote one motion and 3 letters, all of which accomplished absolutely nothing, and she's trying to charge me several thousand more by claiming that her associate's work on my case, which was a complete and utter failure, took longer than it actually did.

Terry certainly has an edge having formal experience in social welfare and a degree on psychology. She has amazed with the depth of her knowledge and personal touch. I wish her success and recommend her strongly.
