I'm in court and the police officer is telling his story. He's making me sound like an absolute villain, and my legs go cold with hopelessness. In the silence that follows, I know I'm going to lose. But then my attorney, Mark Gemoets, begins speaking. At first I almost chuckle at the futility. But he becomes charisma incarnate before my very ears. And within a matter of mere minutes, the outcome of my case has been transmuted from certain doom to dismissal. Dismissal! I couldn't have believed it unless I was right there.
